Lead Data Platform Engineer — Analytics & Marketing Technology

Turn complex data into a strategic advantage. This role is designed for experienced engineers who enjoy building the systems that power insights, personalization, and data-driven decision-making at scale. You’ll operate at the intersection of software engineering, data architecture, and product strategy—shaping how organizations collect, process, and activate their data.

This opportunity is with a client of Andiamo, supporting a modern digital media and content-driven organization. You’ll help design and evolve the data infrastructure that fuels customer experiences, analytics, and marketing effectiveness across multiple platforms.

Role Overview

As a Lead Data Platform Engineer, you will serve as a technical leader within a cross-functional Agile team, guiding the design and delivery of robust data systems. You’ll translate high-level product and analytics needs into scalable pipelines, well-structured data models, and reliable services that support both operational workflows and long-term strategic initiatives.

This role requires both hands-on engineering and architectural leadership—balancing technical depth with the ability to influence how systems are designed and evolve over time.

Key Responsibilities

Data Pipeline Engineering

Design, build, and maintain high-performance data pipelines that support both batch and real-time processing across distributed systems.

Data Modeling & Architecture

Develop scalable data models that enable analytics, reporting, and product features, ensuring consistency and usability across the organization.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

Partner with product managers, analysts, and engineering teams to refine requirements and deliver solutions that align with business objectives.

Engineering Standards & Best Practices

Establish and promote best practices for data engineering, including schema design, orchestration, testing, and documentation.

Data Quality & Reliability

Implement monitoring, validation, and alerting systems to ensure data accuracy, availability, and performance.

Performance & Observability

Drive improvements in system reliability through logging, metrics, and tracing, enabling proactive issue detection and resolution.

Agile Delivery

Break down complex initiatives into actionable work, contributing to sprint planning and delivering consistent, high-quality outcomes.

Risk Management

Identify potential technical challenges early and develop strategies to mitigate risks that could impact delivery or system integrity.

Technical Leadership

Mentor team members, review code, and help elevate engineering practices across the organization.

Platform Strategy

Contribute to the broader evolution of the data platform, influencing tooling, architecture, and long-term direction.

Experience

Required Qualifications

7+ years of software engineering experience with a strong focus on data engineering and distributed systems.

Cloud Expertise

Hands-on experience designing and deploying data solutions in cloud environments (e.g., AWS or similar platforms).

Programming Skills

Proficiency in languages such as Python, Java, or Scala for building scalable data solutions.

Data Technologies

Experience with modern data tools and frameworks such as Spark, Kafka, Airflow, dbt, or cloud-based data warehouses.

Data Modeling

Strong understanding of data warehousing concepts, including dimensional modeling and schema design.

Real-Time Systems

Experience working with streaming data and event-driven architectures.

Problem Solving

Ability to navigate complex technical challenges independently and deliver effective solutions.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with data governance, lineage tracking, and cataloging tools.

Exposure to machine learning workflows or collaboration with data science teams.

Experience leading technical initiatives or influencing multiple engineering teams.

Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

What Makes You a Strong Fit

You think in systems and design for scalability and reliability.

You’re comfortable making decisions in ambiguous environments.

You enjoy mentoring others and raising the bar for engineering excellence.

You balance technical rigor with practical delivery.

You’re motivated by building platforms that enable smarter, faster decision-making.

Impact of the Role

Your work will directly influence how data is trusted, accessed, and leveraged across the organization. By building resilient, scalable data systems, you will enable more informed decisions, stronger customer experiences, and faster product innovation.

This is a role where strong technical leadership and thoughtful architecture can significantly accelerate business outcomes.

Location & Compensation

This role is based in a major U.S. metropolitan area with the option for remote work for qualified candidates.

Compensation is competitive and aligned with experience, with a general salary range of $140,000 – $160,000, plus additional benefits and incentives.

If you’re looking to lead the evolution of modern data systems in a dynamic, content-driven environment, this is an opportunity to make a meaningful and lasting impact.
