Principal Cybersecurity Architect — Enterprise Security Strategy & Design
Define the blueprint for secure, scalable digital ecosystems. This is a high-impact leadership role for a seasoned cybersecurity architect who thrives on shaping strategy, influencing enterprise-wide decisions, and embedding security into the foundation of complex technology environments.
This opportunity is with a client of Andiamo, supporting a large, global organization operating across IT, cloud, manufacturing, and emerging technology landscapes. You will play a critical role in setting the direction for how security is designed, governed, and implemented at scale.
Role Overview
As a Principal Cybersecurity Architect, you will establish and evolve the organization’s overarching security architecture framework. Rather than focusing on implementation, you will define the standards, patterns, and guiding principles that enable teams to build secure-by-design solutions across diverse platforms—including cloud, applications, data, AI, and operational technology environments.
You will work closely with enterprise architects, engineering leaders, and cybersecurity teams to ensure that security is embedded early in the design lifecycle, reducing risk while enabling innovation and speed.
Key Responsibilities
Enterprise Architecture Leadership
Develop and maintain comprehensive security architecture frameworks, including reference models, reusable patterns, and design guardrails that guide teams across the organization.
Architecture Governance
Lead and participate in architecture review sessions, ensuring solutions align with defined standards, risk tolerance, and long-term strategic direction.
Strategic Security Alignment
Ensure all architectural decisions support enterprise cybersecurity objectives, regulatory expectations, and evolving threat landscapes.
Cross-Domain Design Influence
Provide expert guidance across a wide range of environments, including cloud platforms, enterprise applications, identity systems, data protection, AI solutions, and industrial systems.
Pattern & Framework Development
Create scalable, reusable design patterns and decision frameworks that accelerate secure solution delivery and improve consistency across teams.
Risk-Based Decision Making
Evaluate complex trade-offs between security, business priorities, and operational constraints to guide pragmatic, high-impact decisions.
Collaboration & Advisory
Act as a trusted advisor to enterprise architecture, product teams, and senior leadership, influencing decisions through clear, well-reasoned recommendations.
Continuous Improvement
Identify architectural gaps and drive enhancements through updated standards, improved design guidance, and evolving best practices.
Innovation & Future Readiness
Assess emerging technologies and trends—such as Zero Trust, AI-driven systems, and cloud-native architectures—and translate them into actionable security strategies.
Mentorship & Leadership
Guide and mentor other architects, elevating the overall quality, consistency, and rigor of architectural practices across the organization.
Core Competencies
Security Architecture Expertise
Deep experience designing and governing enterprise-scale security architectures, including trust boundaries, threat models, and control frameworks.
Strategic Thinking
Ability to anticipate future risks and technology shifts, translating them into forward-looking architectural strategies.
Influence Without Authority
Proven ability to drive alignment and adoption across cross-functional teams through credibility and communication.
Risk-Based Approach
Skilled at balancing business needs, delivery timelines, and security requirements to enable effective outcomes.
Collaboration
Strong partnership skills across IT, engineering, operations, and cybersecurity domains.
What This Role Focuses On
This position is centered on defining direction—not executing individual implementations. You will shape how security is approached across the organization, ensuring consistency, scalability, and long-term resilience.
It is not a purely compliance-driven role, nor is it limited to late-stage design reviews. Instead, you will engage early, influence broadly, and help teams build secure solutions from the ground up.
Experience
Required Qualifications
7–12+ years of experience in architecture roles with a strong focus on cybersecurity across complex, multi-domain environments.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
Technical Depth
Extensive knowledge of modern security frameworks, architectural modeling techniques, and enterprise security patterns.
Leadership
Demonstrated experience guiding senior technical professionals and influencing enterprise-level decisions.
What Makes You a Strong Fit
You think in systems and design for scale.
You’re comfortable navigating ambiguity and setting direction where none exists.
You bring clarity to complex challenges and simplify them into actionable guidance.
You’re motivated by impact—shaping how security is embedded across an entire organization.
You elevate those around you through mentorship, collaboration, and high standards.
Why This Role Matters
In today’s rapidly evolving digital landscape, security must be intentional, scalable, and built into every layer of technology. In this role, your work will directly influence how large-scale systems are designed, protected, and sustained—ensuring resilience while enabling innovation.
If you’re ready to define the future of enterprise security architecture and operate at a truly strategic level, this role offers the platform to do exactly that.
