Connected Systems Test Engineer — Telematics & Embedded Validation

This role is supporting a client of Andiamo, an innovative organization in the mobility and connected systems space. You’ll contribute to the validation of advanced telematics and digital solutions that power modern vehicles and industrial platforms.

Work Arrangement

Location: Onsite in Columbus, OH

Schedule: Standard business hours (flexible within a 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM window)

Duration: Approximately 12 months, with potential for extension

Role Overview

As a Connected Systems Test Engineer, you will take ownership of end-to-end validation efforts across embedded devices, telematics platforms, and cloud-connected services. You’ll ensure that software updates, communication protocols, and data systems function seamlessly across the entire ecosystem.

This is a hands-on engineering role combining system-level thinking, technical debugging, and automation to deliver high-quality, scalable solutions.

Key Responsibilities

End-to-End Validation

Plan and execute comprehensive test cycles across embedded devices and connected systems, ensuring accuracy, performance, and reliability throughout the product lifecycle.

OTA & Connected Services Testing

Validate over-the-air update workflows and connected features, including standard operations, failure scenarios, and edge cases.

System Debugging

Investigate and resolve complex issues spanning electronic control modules, telematics hardware, and cloud-based services.

Automation Development

Create and enhance scripts and tools to streamline testing processes, increase efficiency, and expand validation coverage.

Integration Support

Collaborate with engineering teams to support system integration from early development through production release.

Documentation & Traceability

Maintain clear, structured records of test cases, results, and defects within lifecycle management systems to ensure long-term usability and compliance.

Progress Tracking & Communication

Provide timely updates on testing progress, risks, and critical issues to project stakeholders and leadership.

Standards & Best Practices

Uphold consistent testing standards, ensuring readiness of test environments, quality of documentation, and reliability of results.

Required Qualifications

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline.

Telematics & Connected Systems Experience

Proven ability to validate connected-device ecosystems, including OTA updates and cloud-integrated features.

Embedded Systems Testing

Strong experience executing full validation cycles and troubleshooting complex device-level issues.

Communication Protocols

Advanced knowledge of CAN-based systems (including J1939 and UDS), with the ability to analyze logs and diagnose communication issues.

Diagnostic Tools

Hands-on experience with industry tools for message analysis, simulation, and troubleshooting.

Cloud Awareness

Foundational understanding of cloud architectures (e.g., AWS, Azure) and their interaction with connected devices.

Automation Skills

Experience building or enhancing scripts and tools to improve testing workflows.

Documentation & Process Discipline

Ability to create clear, structured test documentation and manage artifacts within lifecycle systems.

Agile Methodology

Experience working within Agile frameworks, including sprint planning, defect tracking, and iterative delivery.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience designing reusable validation frameworks or improving test processes.

Familiarity with cloud-to-device communication architectures in telematics or IoT systems.

Experience building dashboards or reporting tools to track testing progress and quality metrics.
