Principal Hardware Engineer — Advanced Sensor Systems
Redefine what’s possible in next-generation sensing technology. Join a team at the forefront of developing high-performance sensor platforms used across robotics, autonomous systems, smart infrastructure, and industrial applications. This role offers the opportunity to architect and deliver cutting-edge hardware that powers real-world innovation at scale.
If you are driven by solving complex engineering challenges and bringing sophisticated systems from concept to production, this is a chance to make a meaningful and lasting impact.
Role Overview
As a Principal Hardware Engineer, you will lead the design and development of advanced electronic systems for high-resolution sensing platforms. You will own the electrical architecture and guide products through the full lifecycle—from early concept and prototyping to validation and large-scale manufacturing.
This is a highly technical, hands-on leadership role requiring deep expertise in system design, cross-functional collaboration, and problem-solving in complex environments.
Key Responsibilities
System Architecture & Design Leadership
Define and drive the electrical architecture for sophisticated sensor systems, balancing performance, power, size, and reliability requirements.
End-to-End Hardware Development
Lead all stages of hardware development including requirements definition, schematic design, PCB layout, system bring-up, testing, and transition to production.
Innovation Under Constraints
Develop solutions that push technical boundaries while meeting strict constraints around size, weight, power consumption, and system integration.
Failure Analysis & Debugging
Diagnose complex electrical and system-level issues, leading root cause investigations and implementing robust corrective actions.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Partner closely with firmware, software, and manufacturing teams to deliver cohesive, high-performance systems.
Production Readiness
Ensure designs are scalable, manufacturable, and reliable, supporting successful ramp to high-volume production.
Documentation & Standards
Create clear and comprehensive design documentation, specifications, and validation plans to support long-term product quality and maintainability.
What You Bring
Extensive Hardware Design Experience
Proven track record designing and delivering complex electronic systems in production environments.
Circuit Design Expertise
Deep understanding of both analog and digital circuit design principles.
Embedded Systems Knowledge
Experience architecting systems that integrate processors, DSPs, FPGAs, or similar technologies, along with familiarity with communication interfaces such as Ethernet, CAN, I2C, SPI, and USB.
PCB Design Mastery
Advanced experience with modern PCB design tools (e.g., Altium or equivalent), including high-density, multi-layer, and rigid-flex designs.
Multitasking & Ownership
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously across different stages of development.
Analytical Problem Solving
Strong capability to troubleshoot complex systems and resolve technical challenges efficiently.
Attention to Detail
Commitment to producing high-quality documentation and ensuring thorough validation coverage.
Preferred Experience
Exposure to integration of custom analog components or photonics-related electronics.
Experience with scripting (e.g., Python) for automation, testing, or data analysis.
Background in high-volume manufacturing environments and collaboration with global production partners.
Familiarity with functional safety standards and rigorous validation methodologies.
Why This Role Stands Out
This is an opportunity to work on technology that powers critical applications across industries such as autonomous systems, smart infrastructure, and advanced manufacturing. You will play a key role in shaping innovative hardware solutions that deliver high performance at scale.
If you are passionate about building sophisticated systems, solving challenging engineering problems, and seeing your work deployed in real-world environments, this role offers both technical depth and meaningful impact.
