Validation Lead — Embedded Systems & Connected Devices
Drive quality, reliability, and performance across next-generation embedded and connected technologies. You will play a key role in shaping testing strategy, leading a small team, and collaborating closely with internal stakeholders and external partners to deliver reliable, production-ready systems.
Role Overview
As a Validation Lead, you will be responsible for overseeing end-to-end testing activities for embedded and connected systems. This includes defining validation strategies, executing test plans, and ensuring comprehensive coverage across hardware, software, and cloud-integrated environments.
This role combines hands-on technical expertise with team leadership, requiring a strong ability to guide engineers, improve testing processes, and ensure high standards of quality across all deliverables.
Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership & Coordination
Lead a small team of validation engineers, managing workload distribution, mentoring team members, and ensuring accountability for project deliverables.
Test Strategy & Planning
Define and implement comprehensive validation strategies that ensure robust test coverage across systems, including edge cases and real-world scenarios.
End-to-End Test Execution
Own the full testing lifecycle, including planning, execution, analysis, and documentation of results within product lifecycle management systems.
Quality & Coverage Optimization
Continuously improve testing processes to enhance coverage, efficiency, and overall product quality—not just execution, but excellence in validation practices.
OTA & System Validation
Design and validate over-the-air update scenarios, ensuring reliability, stability, and performance of software updates in production environments.
Automation & Tooling
Develop and implement automation tools and scripts to increase testing efficiency, reduce manual effort, and expand validation coverage.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Partner with project managers, engineering teams, and external partners to align on timelines, priorities, and technical requirements.
Integration Support
Provide technical support to partners integrating digital solutions, ensuring smooth transition from development through production release.
Standards & Documentation
Establish and maintain testing standards, including documentation practices, test environments, and reporting processes.
Metrics & Reporting
Define and track key performance indicators related to testing quality, coverage, and progress. Deliver clear updates to stakeholders.
Required Qualifications
Embedded Systems Validation
Strong experience leading validation efforts for embedded or device-based systems, including debugging complex issues and ensuring high-quality outcomes.
OTA Testing Expertise
Experience designing and validating over-the-air update scenarios, including handling edge cases and ensuring system reliability.
Communication Protocols
Working knowledge of protocols such as CAN, J1939, or UDS, with the ability to analyze communication logs and troubleshoot issues.
Testing Tools
Experience using tools such as CANalyzer or PCAN for message simulation, diagnostics, and test automation support.
Test Strategy & Coverage
Proven ability to define testing scope, improve coverage, and create reusable test artifacts and metrics.
Automation Skills
Experience developing scripts or tools to improve testing efficiency and scalability.
Cloud & Integration Awareness
Basic understanding of cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure and their role in end-to-end system validation.
Documentation & PLM Systems
Experience documenting test results, defects, and processes within product lifecycle management systems.
Agile Methodologies
Experience working within Agile frameworks, including sprint planning, backlog refinement, and progress tracking.
Leadership
Experience leading small teams, assigning tasks, and mentoring engineers.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience designing or improving validation frameworks and processes.
Experience defining and tracking validation KPIs and coverage metrics.
Familiarity with connected device ecosystems or telematics systems.
Experience building dashboards to visualize test progress and quality metrics.
