We are looking for a seasoned Senior or Staff Backend Engineer to help scale the systems that drive the core travel advisor experience. This is an opportunity to work on high-impact backend architecture that supports everything from onboarding and booking workflows to supplier integrations, content systems, and internal operational tools.
The Role
As a Senior Backend Engineer, you will play a critical role in building reliable, scalable services that power a rapidly expanding travel marketplace. You will collaborate closely with Product, Design, and Engineering teams to deliver seamless end-to-end solutions that enable travel advisors to serve clients with ease and confidence.
Your work will span multiple domains, including advisor-facing applications, external web platforms, supplier connectivity, and internal administrative systems. This role is ideal for an engineer who thrives in fast-paced environments, values clean architecture, and enjoys owning projects from concept through delivery.
What You Will Build
This role offers a competitive compensation package with an indicative salary range of $155,000 to $225,000, plus equity opportunities. Final compensation will be based on experience and level.
This is a hybrid role based in New York City, with several in-office collaboration days each week and flexibility for remote work on other days.

What You Will Build
- Scalable backend services that support advisor onboarding, travel search, booking, and itinerary management
- High-performance APIs and distributed systems that integrate with travel suppliers and external partners
- Core platform infrastructure that powers content, client interactions, and internal tools
- Reliable data-driven systems built with strong architectural principles and clean code practices
- Collaborate with Product Managers and Designers to shape technical roadmaps and prioritize impactful initiatives
- Build and enhance backend systems that enable travel advisors to manage bookings, itineraries, and client relationships
- Design clean, maintainable architectures with a strong focus on performance, scalability, and reliability
- Develop high-quality APIs and distributed services that support a growing travel platform
- Partner with engineers across frontend and backend teams to deliver cohesive end-to-end solutions
- Own major epics from technical design through implementation, testing, and production delivery
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience
- 5+ years of experience in backend web development
- 3+ years building production systems with Python and frameworks such as Django, Flask, or similar
- Strong expertise in API design, distributed systems, and service-oriented architecture
- Experience working with relational databases and ORM-based development
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative, team-oriented mindset
- Entrepreneurial energy and comfort operating in a fast-growing, mission-driven environment
- Experience with AWS cloud infrastructure
- Familiarity with Kubernetes and containerized production environments
