Senior Phlebotomist, Clinical Sample Collection Lead

Overview

This role is for a career phlebotomist who treats specimen collection as a high-precision clinical craft, not a routine task. You will lead blood and biological sample collection in a modern diagnostics and research environment where sample quality, patient experience, and procedural discipline are essential.

You will be part of a team supporting advanced diagnostics, research programs, and data-driven precision health initiatives, including multi-omics testing and Digital Twin modeling. The integrity of every specimen directly affects downstream interpretation, analytics, and clinical outcomes.

What You Will Own

• Execute venipuncture and biological sample collection with exceptional technique, consistency, and minimal patient discomfort.
• Lead complex collection scenarios including multi-tube draws, time-sensitive samples, fasting protocols, pediatric and geriatric patients, and longitudinal study schedules.
• Uphold strict compliance with SOPs across collection, labeling, handling, packaging, transport, and chain-of-custody requirements.
• Capture complete pre-analytical context, including timing, patient posture, fasting state, collection conditions, handling notes, and any deviations.
• Maintain specimen integrity for high-sensitivity downstream workflows such as genomics, proteomics, metabolomics, immunology panels, and other advanced assays.
• Deliver a world-class patient experience, including for VIP, high-profile, and high-anxiety individuals, without compromising protocol.
• Partner closely with clinicians, scientists, and operational stakeholders to ensure seamless end-to-end workflow execution.
• Improve clinical collection processes through continuous refinement of protocols, training methods, and operational standards.
• Train, mentor, and quality-audit junior phlebotomists as the program expands.
• Support clinical studies, research trials, and validation projects as needed, including adherence to study-specific requirements.

Required Qualifications

• 10+ years of professional phlebotomy experience in a hospital, laboratory, research, or elite clinical setting.
• Formal phlebotomy certification and strong working knowledge of clinical laboratory best practices.
• Demonstrated expertise in difficult draws, fragile veins, and high-variability patient populations.
• Experience in high-throughput collection environments or research-grade specimen handling.
• Deep understanding of pre-analytical variables and how they impact downstream diagnostic accuracy.
• Exceptional attention to detail, with a strong bias toward clean documentation and procedural rigor.
• Fluency in English. Additional languages are a plus.
  
  

Preferred Experience

• Background in precision medicine, genomics, biobanking, clinical trials, or advanced diagnostics.
• Experience working in regulated or audit-driven environments with strict traceability expectations.
• Familiarity with LIMS systems, digital audit trails, and structured specimen workflows.
• Prior work in research hospitals, specialty diagnostic programs, or private VIP clinical services.
