At ClearSpace, we believe in reusability, in affordability driving disruption, and that no progress is real unless it is sustainable.

Our company was founded in 2018 out of the realization that in-orbit servicing and space debris removal are vital services for the future of space exploration and operations. Today ClearSpace has assembled an expert engineering team and is leading the way toward sustainable space operations. From a garage in Switzerland, we now operate across UK and Europe, and are working with world-leading institutions and companies to bring our dream of a sustainable space ecosystem to life.

Motivated to join us and make a difference beyond earth? We are currently looking for a Senior Electronics Engineer to join the team.

The Role

The successful candidate will be a key member of our Electrical Systems Team, working to support the rapid delivery of spacecraft. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a rapidly expanding, multi-disciplinary environment with opportunities to grow professionally and offer the chance to work outside of your discipline, if desired. The current role will involve all aspects of the spacecraft avionics and electrical systems, but with a particular focus on electronics to support robotics developments.

Responsibilities

    • Support all phases of the electrical subsystem lifecycle (spacecraft platform and robotics payloads), from conceptual phase until testing and validation
      • Define the key aspects of the subsystem, including power and data interfaces, sensor architectures
      • Perform requirements engineering and generate equipment specifications
      • Support supplier selection and subcontractor management for key hardware deliverables.
      • Support in-house development of electronics boards
      • Support the definition of harness for test and spacecraft
      • Define required EGSE and support the build or procurement
      • Perform commissioning, validation, and functional testing of electrical subsystems, including analysis of test results
      • Define and document electrical interface specifications
      • Support integration activities and execute functional and performance verification tests
      • Support the development of software for testing and flight
    • Act as the technical point of contact on the electrical subsystem with key stakeholders: internal, customers, subcontractors.
    • Advise the spacecraft team on all areas of electrical concern (e.g. grounding, EMC, power, charging)
    • Help define validation, verification and test plans
