About the role

We are looking for a talented Software Engineer to support the deployment of Chloris’ innovative technology for enterprise clients in the voluntary carbon markets and supply chain sustainability.

The Software Engineer will work closely with data scientists and subject matter experts to build and deploy the software at the core of our geospatial data processing engine.

The Software Engineer (Backend) will report to the Head of Engineering and will work closely with the Data Science team.

Responsibilities

Design, test, and build the backend software which delivers Chloris Geospatial’s unique insights. Work closely with data scientists to optimize and integrate their code in order to bring it to production.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent work experience
  • 3-5 years of professional software engineering experience
  • 3-5 years of experience with Python or similar language
  • Understanding of Object Oriented and Functional Programming paradigms
  • Experience working with relational and/or NoSQL Databases
  • Independent and self-motivated with excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills

Ideal candidates will have

  • Experience with AWS services such as Lambda, S3, and DynamoDB
  • Experience with Open Source Geospatial tools such as GDAL, Geopandas, Rasterio, Xarray, etc

Location + Time Commitment

This is a full-time position. Location is flexible, with a preference for locations allowing hybrid work in Boston, MA. Chloris is a hybrid-first company with a transatlantic team based throughout Western Europe and the United States, concentrated near our Boston headquarters. We are committed to providing a hybrid work environment that allows for in-person and on-site collaboration at quarterly all-hands retreats, in addition to allowing for the benefits that come from flexible, work-from-anywhere arrangements.
