FLAG Subject Matter Expert (SME) – AI-Driven Supply Chain Sustainability
About us

Chloris Geospatial is a venture-backed technology company operating at the intersection of space-tech and nature-tech. Our mission is to accelerate the global transition to a net-zero and nature-positive economy with the most reliable, trustworthy and transparent natural capital data. Today, we use industry-leading technology to measure the amount of carbon stored in terrestrial ecosystems. Our state-of-the-art machine learning algorithms fuse data from multiple Earth observation satellites to provide accurate and scalable measurements of the carbon stocks and change in woody vegetation (forests, shrubs, and mangroves), anywhere in the world. Our team has deep expertise in remote sensing, AI & ML, ecology, and sustainable business.

About the role

Chloris is looking for a Subject Matter Expert to bridge sustainability science, supply chain practice, and AI development by embedding deep domain expertise into agent workflows and product logic. Reporting directly to the Solution Leader, FLAG Supply Chain & GeoAI, the Subject Matter Expert will complement and augment Chloris’ existing expertise in developing tailored solutions to customers in the FLAG sector as a key contributor to its Solutions Business line.

Responsibilities

  • Translate FLAG frameworks (e.g. SBTi FLAG, GHG Protocol LULUCF, TNFD) into agent prompts, risk rules, and emissions logic.
  • Define data requirements and regional parameters for agents analyzing soy, palm, livestock, cocoa, coffee, and other forest-risk commodity supply chains.
  • Validate outputs from AI systems estimating emissions, land use change, or supplier compliance.
  • Work with clients to develop actionable interventions from AI-driven insights.

Qualifications

  • 6–10 years in climate science, agriculture, forestry, or sustainability consulting.
  • Deep familiarity with deforestation-free sourcing programs (e.g., RSPO, RTRS, FSC), satellite monitoring, and FLAG reporting protocols.
  • Collaborative mindset with ability to co-design prompt libraries and training datasets
  • Familiarity with geospatial data sources (e.g. Sentinel, Landsat, Planet), FLAG methodologies, and AI orchestration platforms.
  • Experience with GeoAI platforms (e.g., Google Earth Engine, QGIS, Radiant Earth), ESG traceability tools, and emissions accounting.

This is a full-time position in our new European hub in Florence, Italy. We are committed to providing a hybrid work environment that allows for in-person and on-site collaboration in our Florence office space.
