We are looking to add a Senior Engineering Manager of Propulsion Systems to our team. If you enjoy working in a startup environment, and have a mind for the business of technology, we would like to hear from you.
In this position you will lead a team developing state of the art liquid propulsion systems for aerospace applications. As the leader of the liquid propulsion engineering group, you will be responsible for building and leading a team focused new product development. This position requires significant technical expertise in liquid propulsion systems, proven product development experience, and a track record of successfully working with other functions and upper management in a team environment to accomplish business objectives.
Success in this role will require expert-level scientific/technical judgment, innovative thinking and excellent interpersonal/management skills in order to execute our product development objectives.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Managing execution of all product design and test efforts, with a focus on technical excellence and balancing innovation, performance, risk, manufacturability/testability, schedule and cost objectives. Includes technical reviews and troubleshooting of work performed by team members.
- Create model concepts, designs, manufacturing and test processes.
- Perform system modeling and computer analyses for product designs.
- Working with Program Management and Business Development functions to develop and execute a strategic plan for growth in the marketplace, including technical and programmatic approaches.
- Creating a technical roadmap to identify key technology opportunities to drive innovation and development of new products and technologies.
- Build and develop a world class team of engineers and scientists across the technical disciplines to support the programs and department budgets. Promote employee development to meet future technical requirements.
- Setting and promoting high standards for quality and safety through peer reviews, process control, and performance feedback. Ensure compliance with all command media processes and standards in our technical solutions.
- Lead the resolution of significant technical issues. Working with the chief engineer, develop plans to resolve the issues, communicate the plan, ensure appropriate technical resources are applied, and advise senior management on progress.
- Maintaining state-of-the-art knowledge with respect to technology and engineering best practices through education, conferences, and trade shows.
- Lead or support program technical reviews, proposal reviews, or other technical meetings.
JOB REQUIREMENTS AND MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Master’s degree in Engineering and 15 years of experience.
- Strong technical background in liquid propulsion design, development, manufacturing, integration, and testing including both hardware and software.
- Must be a self-starter and possess the skills necessary to lead and motivate others, achieving results in a timely manner.
- 3+ years of people or project leadership experience.
- Excellent oral, presentation, and written communication skills to all levels of an organization.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
- Experience in capturing new business through cross-functional collaboration.
- Demonstrated effectiveness in managing internal customer relationships, prioritization, and delegation.
- Ability to balance people management, technical/process management, and strategic/new business aspects of this position.
