CARTO is the leading Location Intelligence platform empowering companies with scalable and cloud-native spatial analytics. CARTO helps organizations make better business decisions by empowering data analysts, business analysts, GIS professionals, and developers with faster, more flexible, and more secure spatial data analysis and visualization tools. Whether through optimizing network planning, assessing risk, identifying growth opportunities, or other use cases, companies benefit from turning their location data into business value.
With an exceptionally diverse team of 150 people spread across the US and Europe and customers such as Vodafone, Ford, and Coca-Cola, CARTO is looking for new talent to continue our growth.
To continue our growth in the enterprise space, we are looking for a critical thinking, professionally persistent & coachable Sales Development Representative (ideally based in DC or NYC, but open to remote candidates). You will work with our Director of SDR and 3 highly skilled peers split between USA and Europe to generate qualified pipeline for our North American team of Account Executives.
How is this role different from other SDR positions:
- Responsibility. You will have the opportunity to run discovery calls, do demo’s and open qualified pipeline opportunities that lead to renewable revenue.
- Strategic. Outbound into Telecommunications, Insurance, Finserv & other Fortune 500 accounts working with our cloud partners in Google, AWS, Databricks & Snowflake.
- Business Development. Support biz dev activities for events we host with the likes of Google, Snowflake, Databricks & AWS. You can earn the chance to attend these events!
- Not just an appointment setter. You are compensated based on the size of the opportunity you create, so when CARTO wins, you win. You are not JUST an SDR.
Responsibilities
- Generate Qualified Pipeline: Open new business opportunities via Outbound and Inbound for a defined list of target accounts, existing clients and qualified inbound accounts. To do this you can use our sales toolbox to drive opportunity creation via consistent prospecting. These tools include Salesforce, Hubspot, LinkedIn Sales Navigator, Apollo, Qualified, Gemini Pro, Gong, among others.
- Plan your prospecting: Create and tailor your action plan for what actions you will take in accounts based on the prospects lists you create. You will need to have a point of view (POV) on who are the top prospects in an account. You will need to select good triggers (reasons to reach out) based on recent account insights. Time management and effective actioning of your plan is crucial.
- Iterate on Outbound: Work closely and collaboratively with the sales and marketing team to iterate on outbound messaging and generate interest around problems CARTO can solve. Be able to demonstrate the value of CARTO to enterprise organizations, adapting your outreach, demo scripts and messaging to the needs of the potential customer. You will always get feedback when you ask for it.
You offer:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
- Driven, eager to learn, and desire to pursue a career in tech and SaaS sales
- Ideally 1-2 years business experience, preferably in a results-oriented sales environment.
- Prior lead generation experience or cold-calling experience is a plus.
We Offer:
- Competitive compensation
- Access to our employee stock options plan
- Education Stipend
- Flexible work hours in a focused but casual environment
- Excellent benefits, including 100% medical, dental, and vision coverage for employees
- Generous time off
- Growth prospects at a truly welcoming, multicultural and multilingual company
- A big vision: to help the world use location-based data to make better decisions. We believe that openness and sustainability are baked into this vision, and we’re sharing it with the world.
