The Opportunity – Program manager, Aerospace & Defense

This is an exciting opportunity to lead the Carbice product definition and execution in the aerospace and defense markets. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing a deep understanding of the products in Aerospace and Defense, setting the product strategy, working with engineering to execute product development and understanding, and driving marketing to communicate our product message and value in the aerospace and defense markets. This candidate will work with customers across this industry to define and match their product roadmap(s) and ultimately enable the adoption of Carbice as the standard for their applications. This candidate will become the expert in Carbice Space and defense product solutions and applications. He or she will work with our customer success team and customers to establish and execute game plans to win key program wins. Reporting to the GM of Aerospace and Defense, this role serves as a key central focal point to position our product, define unique value propositions, and support the customer success effort to win and grow business. This candidate will also support the GM of Aerospace and Defense with strategic customer account activity to help grow our most important accounts.

In addition, this candidate will work with product directors across other industries to learn and develop strategies that maximize the Carbice product opportunity. This candidate will establish his or her presence in the industry bringing market insights to the Carbice team and influence customers and the industry.

We are looking for a candidate located in the Los Angeles, CA or Denver, CO area.

Key Responsibilities

This role will develop both over the short and long term. This position will provide opportunity to advance to leadership roles over time. The role offers an opportunity to learn and become an industry expert in our product and in product interfaces and solutions. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to grow into a Senior Executive running large areas of the Carbice business over time.

  • This leader will be accountable for defining and executing the Carbice product value proposition in aerospace and defense.
  • This leader will be responsible to understand customer roadmaps and align Carbice to support key applications across aerospace and defense
  • This leader will understand and target the customer applications Carbice will target to drive adoption and grow revenue / market share.
  • This leader will be responsible for defining plans, case studies and evaluations required from the engineering team to assure Carbice is well positioned in target applications.
  • This leader will be a critical resource for the customer success team and our customers to provide consulting and problem-solving support.
  • This leader will have a key role in the Carbice go-to-market plan and will work with the GM of Aerospace and Defense to execute.
  • The candidate must have the executive presence needed to define a presence in the industry and to build business externally and the appropriate emotional quotient needed to build a team internally.
  • The successful candidate will team up with all the key business functions across the front end, engineering and manufacturing.

In addition, this role will:

  • Develop positive work relationships with all levels of management and other departments in the company, work collaboratively with corporate functions, HR, legal, finance, etc.
  • Acquire a thorough understanding of key client needs and requirements and develop trusting relationships.
  • Educate internally and externally including business partners and new sales channels for Carbice products.
  • Resolve any issues and problems faced by customers and deal with technical issues to build personal and company trust.
  • Lead business evaluation demonstrations and tenders for new business opportunities.
  • Support and facilitate the preparation working with Product marketing and comms to deliver high-quality and relevant marketing documentation inclusive of; the preparation and delivery of high-quality, timely, and relevant tender documentation such as
  • Communicate with the Executive and the Product team about what he/she is hearing from the market and, when appropriate, push the organization to think about what we need to develop to stay competitive.

Professional Experience & Qualifications

  • PhD or MS in Engineering, Materials Science or related technical field, MBA also potential
  • Experience in product development or business leadership in aerospace & defense.
  • Strong technical skills, able to teach and learn.
  • 5 years of experience in product development or selling into the electronics industry. (Contract manufacturing, large product companies, foundries, etc.)
  • Good contacts and relationships in the aerospace and defense industries.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Experience balancing technical and business aspects of accounts to drive value solutions to customers.
  • Track record of meeting measurements and KPI’s while driving business growth.
  • High motor – high energy business leader.
  • Ability to “roll up sleeves” and personally take action.
