Cambridge Mobile Telematics (CMT) is the world’s largest telematics service provider. Its mission is to make the world’s roads and drivers safer. The company’s AI-driven platform, DriveWell® Fusion, gathers sensor data from millions of IoT devices — including smartphones, proprietary Tags, connected vehicles, dashcams, and third-party devices — and fuses them with contextual data to create a unified view of vehicle and driver behavior. Auto insurers, automakers, commercial mobility companies, and the public sector use insights from CMT’s platform to power risk assessment, safety, claims, and driver improvement programs. Headquartered in Cambridge, MA, with offices in Budapest, Chennai, Seattle, Tokyo, and Zagreb, CMT measures and protects tens of millions of drivers across the world every day.

CMT is looking for a collaborative, customer-committed, and creative Principal Data Analyst who wants to join us in making roads safer by making drivers better!

If you’ve ever watched TV or seen a billboard, then you know our customers and programs well. These programs are a win-win-win: drivers and roads become safer, consumers save money, and businesses become more profitable. But the benefits of these programs are only realized if people join, become active, and remain in these programs. In this role, you will lead analytics on one of our cross-functional squad. You are the go-to person on the team for everything data and an involved participant in the analyze-build-test-learn growth process.

  • Perform advanced business analysis using various techniques, including statistical analysis, predictive modeling, and data testing and monitoring algorithms to develop actionable insights with recommendations for current business operations or issues
  • Collaborate with Product Owners, Sales, Marketing, Customer Success, and other stakeholders to develop models, reporting, dashboards, and presentations for internal/external clients
  • Lead cross-functional internal and external meetings to present analysis, insights, and proposals for recommendations, while diving deep into the data to generate testable hypotheses
  • Participate in A/B and other statistical testing design, setting up control groups, and relaying outcomes of testing, aiming to accept or reject growth hypotheses
  • Handle special analytical projects as needed, and may oversee the work of less experienced analysts
  • Complete any additional tasks that may arise

  • BA, BS, or certification in Computer Science, Statistics, Data Science, Engineering, Math, or related field
  • 7+ years of experience in a growth-focused analytics role working in the consumer (B2C or B2B2C) or direct-to-user space, with mobile experience preferred
  • Prior experience working in an embedded, cross-functional product team
  • Strong investigative skills and intellectual curiosity to seek the truth
  • Ability to update and retrieve data, clean it, highlight changes and incongruencies, and deliver understandable insights and opinions on the results
  • Proficiency in SQL
  • Good understanding of statistical testing in a business setting
  • Experience with data visualization tools, ideally Tableau
  • Willing and able to work in person in our Cambridge office twice per week

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Fair and competitive salary based on skills and experience
  • Equity may be awarded in the form of Restricted Stock Units (RSUs)
  • Medical, Dental, Vision, and Life Insurance, matching 401k, short-term & long-term disability, and parental leave
  • Unlimited Paid Time Off including vacation, sick days & public holidays
  • Flexible scheduling and work-from-home policy depending on role and responsibilities

Additional Perks:

  • Feel great working to improve road safety around the world!
  • Join one of our many employee resource groups including Black, AAPI, LGBTQIA+, Women, Book Club, and Health & Wellness
  • Extensive wellness, education, and employee assistance programs
  • CMT will do all that is possible to support our employees and create a positive and inclusive work environment for all!
