We are looking for a manufacturing engineer to join the IoT group to work with our manufacturing and production systems - responding to issues in the factory and building stronger systems. We build millions of IoT devices every year using custom manufacturing automation to test and track each device. In this role, you will maintain and improve the hardware that powers CMT’s high-volume IoT manufacturing systems. You will work as part of our hardware and production groups to directly support our contract manufacturing partners, helping to troubleshoot issues and improve efficiency. You should be able to work independently with little supervision, and demonstrate excellent organization and problem-solving skills. Hands-on experience in manufacturing environments is a plus, Your mission will be to develop high-quality manufacturing systems that directly impact CMT’s IoT business goals.
Responsibilities:
- Sustain existing manufacturing automation systems, including conveyor systems, automated component feeding, assembly methods, laser/inkjet marking, and vision inspection. Collaborate with the factory and production equipment suppliers for both debugging and cutover to new system updates.
- Ensure manufacturing processes run consistently and meet performance targets by reducing costs, maximizing efficiency, and minimizing manufacturing yield loss.
- Proactively seek out ways to improve manufacturing quality, reliability and throughput based on a detailed review of manufacturing and yield data.
- Provide problem-solving and technical assistance to manufacturing operations to resolve process control issues for new processes. Respond to production line issues at the factories as required.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to transfer new products into production by providing recommendations regarding product design, assembly techniques and manufacturing processes. Translate customer and market specifications into required process parameters at the factory.
- Conduct equipment and process validation qualifications. Coordinate and perform qualification of new and/or improved manufacturing equipment and automation systems.
- Complete any additional tasks that may arise
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent years of experience and/or certification in Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering
- 2+ years of relevant working experience
- Experience with manufacturing automation
- Experience with some or all of the following sub-processes: injection molding, PCBA fabrication, thermal/inkjet and pad printing, automated assembly/manufacturing, PLCs, in-line quality and functional testing.
- Ability to travel up to 15% to support on-site visits to the factory and equipment suppliers
- Ability to clearly communicate manufacturing status, blocks, and plans to resolve
- Experience using statistical methods to analyze data (debug/resolve manufacturing issues)
Nice to Have:
- Experience with continuous process improvement and applying lean manufacturing techniques
- Experience with data visualization (Tableau)
- Experience with Python
- Experience with OnShape
