About The Role
Bolt is committed to enhancing rider and driver safety through proactive risk detection solutions. The Investigation Specialist will play a key role in bridging the data science team with real-world safety risks, validating anomalies, identifying risk patterns, and refining model accuracy. This will help inform the development of a proactive safety framework that addresses the highest risks for riders and drivers. The role involves close collaboration with Product, Engineering, Data Science, Customer Experience, and Safety Incident Management teams to create a defense strategy against emerging safety threats.

About The Role

The Investigation Specialist will play a key role in bridging the data science team with real-world safety risks, validating anomalies, identifying risk patterns, and refining model accuracy. This will help inform the development of a proactive safety framework that addresses the highest risks for riders and drivers. The role involves close collaboration with Product, Engineering, Data Science, Customer Experience, and Safety Incident Management teams to create a defense strategy against emerging safety threats.
Main tasks and responsibilities:
- Monitoring evolving local safety crises and trends to analyze and uncover root causes
- Collaborating with the Data Science team to support all stages of the data model development lifecycle, from hypothesis validation to prototyping and large-scale implementation, ensuring model outputs align with real-world safety insights and market-specific contexts
- Validating flagged anomalies by using a stratified sampling approach to assess flagged cases and calculate the confusion matrix (TP, FP, TN, FN), to help optimize model recall and precision.
- Providing insights for model refinement by documenting trends, edge cases, and system blind spots (e.g., recurring anomalies in specific geofences) to support data model parameter adjustments.
- Analyzing user-reported tickets to identify unflagged risks and detect patterns missed by current models, proposing new detection mechanisms to improve overall detection capabilities.
- Refining model thresholds by validating and adjusting them to ensure sensitivity and specificity across different markets.
- You have experience in risk investigation, penetration testing, or red team operations.
- You have strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data, translate insights into actionable strategies, and write SQL queries.
- You have excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex concepts clearly and concisely.
- You are effective team player who thrives in collaborative, cross-functional environments.
- Previous experience in the space of safety, fraud, or banking investigations is advantageous.
