We are looking for someone to lead Bolt’s public policy work related to driver, passenger and courier safety across all markets. The successful applicant will join an existing internal and cross-vertical safety team and become the key link between that team and the global public policy department.

About The Role

This person will become the lynchpin between safety, product, public policy and operations teams on safety issues, providing summaries and updates on progress to senior management and representing the business at key events with external stakeholders like regulators, the police and third-party safety organizations.

Main tasks and responsibilities:

  • Setting common standards and benchmarks for safety processes across the business to ensure high standards are maintained.
  • Helping to deliver large-scale safety projects as part of a cross-functional team, providing feedback on potential product changes.
  • Keeping in-country public policy teams updated on safety developments and letting the business know where safety issues are causing regulatory and reputational concerns.
  • Setting roadmaps and delivering timelines for introducing safety features in various locations and ensuring that public policy team members have sufficient information to communicate the new features to external audiences.
  • Setting up partnerships with third-party organizations to improve safety standards across ride-hailing and delivery through mechanisms such as external accreditation.
  • Establishing networks and working closely with other operators to ensure common standards in safety processes across the platform economy sector.
  • Planning long-term KPIs, goals and principles for safety standards across ride-hailing and delivery.
  • Setting standards for fleet operators and ensuring the appropriate tools and safeguards are made available to respond to safety issues.
  • Representing the company at external meetings and events related to safety in the platform economy.


About you:

  • A background in safety, security or within a highly regulated industry.
  • Excellent communication in English (written and spoken) and other languages such as French, German or Polish are an advantage.
  • Great presentation skills, including in front of large audiences.
  • A people person and good listener with an interest in the platform economy and experience of working closely with community groups.
  • Willingness to travel widely, set deadlines, collaborate with other functions and project manage a variety of processes.
  • Resilient and capable of adapting to uncomfortable situations and responding to pressure.
  • An understanding of the issues in taxi and private hire would be a distinct advantage, as would previous experience of engaging with trade unions or regulators.
