This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance. This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities.

As the shift leader of a hardworking and accomplished team of hardware movement technicians, you will coordinate critical material movement operations, lead shift activities, and maintain strong communication with internal customers to meet program timelines. You will be responsible for employee life cycle including hiring, performance management, training and providing tools for career development, while ensuring all hardware transportation needs are met safely and efficiently.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead daily shift operations for hardware movement personnel, including schedule coordination and resource allocation
  • Communicate directly with internal customers to understand movement priorities and timeline requirements
  • Coordinate cross-functional activities to ensure hardware is ready for movement and receiving areas are prepared
  • Conduct performance reviews and provide mentorship to team members
  • Establish work assignments, training requirements, overtime allocation and coverage for absent employees
  • Maintain and actively communicate hardware movement schedule status to stakeholders to ensure visibility of progress
  • Serve as primary interface between hardware movement team and other departments/customers
  • Provide first level escalation support to employees regarding HR issues (employee relations, worker's compensation, disciplinary actions, timecards, PTO requests)
  • Ensure all team members follow work instructions, quality requirements, rigging procedures, and EHS compliance
  • Maintain accurate hardware movement logs, chain of custody documentation, and schedule tracking
  • Participate in daily leadership meetings to represent hardware movement team needs and constraints
  • Support move planning and provide job planning estimates based on equipment capabilities and team capacity
  • Ability to perform interviews, evaluate talent and provide hiring recommendations
  • Safely work within an aerospace manufacturing environment with flight critical hardware

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience leading teams in material handling, transportation, or related operations
  • 5+ years' experience in aerospace hardware movement or similar operations
  • Demonstrated experience prioritizing complex movement requirements across multiple stakeholders
  • Strong communication skills with proven ability to manage customer expectations
  • Experience coordinating movement of high-value or sensitive hardware/materials
  • Ability to interpret engineering models, drawings, specifications, written work instructions, and movement procedures
  • Experience developing and executing movement plans for oversized or complex hardware
  • Familiarity with hardware movement equipment such as cranes, forklifts, transporters, and specialized fixtures
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced dynamic team environment with rapidly changing priorities
  • Experience coordinating shift handovers to maintain operational continuity
  • Basic computer skills such as Windows, Microsoft Office, etc.

Desired:

  • Experience with aerospace hardware movement, critical lift planning, and transport of oversized components
  • Knowledge of rigging standards and EHS regulations for heavy equipment operation
  • Overhead crane operation certification and advanced rigging techniques for large aerospace components
  • Powered industrial equipment operation certification (forklifts, man lifts, etc.)
  • Experience with route planning and facility modifications for large component transport
  • Background in production environments with time-critical operations
  • Demonstrated success in building effective working relationships across organizational boundaries

  • Required for Certain Job Profiles: Drivers who operate Commercial Motor Vehicles with a Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW), Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) or combination of power unit and trailer that meets or exceeds 10,001 lbs. and/or transports placardable amounts of hazardous materials by ground in any vehicle on a public road while in commerce, may be subject to additional Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations including: Driver Qualification Files, Medical Certification (obtained before onboarding), Road Test, Hours of Service, Drug and Alcohol Testing (CDL drivers only), vehicle inspection requirements, CDL requirements (if applicable) and hazardous materials transportation/shipping training.

  • Required for certain Job Profiles: Ability to obtain and maintain Merchant Mariner Credential, which includes pre-employment and random drug testing as well as DOT physical
