This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance. This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities.

As a core member supporting our liquid rocket engine test facilities, you’ll partner with specialists, technicians, and engineers to ensure our test operations are world-class. Your primary focus will be developing and executing robust maintenance strategies for complex fluid systems, central to our mission of safe human spaceflight.

Shift: 8 days on, 6 days off rotations

Being at the heart of Blue Origin operations, the West Texas Site in Van Horn, TX offers eligible employee’s additional attractive financial incentives to supplement their competitive base earnings, including a living allowance and relocation assistance. Eligibility for these additional benefits is based on the employee’s ability to permanently relocate to Van Horn, TX, or travel to Van Horn.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Operate and maintain test facilities that support the design, development, and production of liquid rocket engines.
  • Develop and implement unified facility maintenance processes; consolidate existing work streams and address process gaps.
  • Collaborate with test operations engineers to write and refine detailed work instructions for technician execution.
  • Create processes and define metrics to ensure ongoing, timely maintenance of test equipment and systems.
  • Author and execute test procedures involving high-pressure gas and cryogenic/non-cryogenic fluid systems.
  • Specify and procure system components and materials; manage vendor and subcontractor relationships.
  • Contribute to schedule, configuration, cost, quality, and safety management for facility operations.
  • Analyze test and facility data to assess and improve system/component health and performance.
  • Continuously seek opportunities to improve workplace safety, streamline schedules, and reduce costs.

Minimum Qualifications

  • B.S. in mechanical, aerospace or electrical engineering or related field
  • 2+ years of experience developing test plans and writing work instructions for complex technical systems
  • Strong background in ground support equipment (pumps, compressors, engines)
  • In-depth knowledge of fluid dynamics and thermodynamics
  • Demonstrated project management, leadership, and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience with liquid rocket engine test stand design, operation, and maintenance—including:
    • Pressurized gas and cryogenic fluid systems (LH₂, LOx, LNG, LN₂)
    • Instrumentation and data acquisition/control systems
    • Liquid propulsion systems
  • Experience with component and system-level testing throughout product development and acceptance
  • Proficiency in:
    • Leading technician teams in test facility ops and maintenance
    • Conducting process hazard and root cause analyses
    • Sizing/selecting/flushing fluid system components and instrumentation
    • Operating, troubleshooting, and programming data acquisition/control systems
  • Familiarity with software tools: Python, LabVIEW, AutoCAD P&ID, Winplot, Windchill, Creo
  • Knowledge of fabrication, systems engineering, integration, and quality control methodologies
  • Ownership mentality with a drive for results and continuous improvement

  • Required for Certain Job Profiles: Drivers who operate Commercial Motor Vehicles with a Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW), Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) or combination of power unit and trailer that meets or exceeds 10,001 lbs. and/or transports placardable amounts of hazardous materials by ground in any vehicle on a public road while in commerce, may be subject to additional Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations including: Driver Qualification Files, Medical Certification (obtained before onboarding), Road Test, Hours of Service, Drug and Alcohol Testing (CDL drivers only), vehicle inspection requirements, CDL requirements (if applicable) and hazardous materials transportation/shipping training.

  • Required for certain Job Profiles: Ability to obtain and maintain Merchant Mariner Credential, which includes pre-employment and random drug testing as well as DOT physical
