The Quality Engineer is responsible for compliance to internal and external quality requirements for aerospace launch vehicle and satellite customers. In this role you will ensure that the quality of built assemblies meets all customer expectations, aligns with the intended design configuration, and ensure all non-conformances are documented appropriately. In addition to project-based quality, you will work with Quality Management System personnel to ensure compliance to quality system requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for program compliance to customer quality and specification requirements
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including product design, product management and production to identify and mitigate quality risks
  • Determine root cause and implement corrective action for product defects
  • Conduct internal quality audits
  • Participate in new product development and failure investigations
  • Uses Lean Manufacturing tools to improve quality and reduce defects
  • Interface with a variety of personnel in support of production including operators, quality engineers, inspectors, shop floor supervisors, program managers, project engineers and design engineers
  • Review supplier and internal documents for compliance to quality requirements
  • Compile product end-item data packages
  • Interface with suppliers and customers concerning program quality requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline, preferably mechanical, electrical or aerospace engineering
  • 3+ years of experience in quality engineering
  • Expertise in reviewing technical documentation such as drawings, specifications and industry standards to extract critical requirements
  • Experience working directly with customers to identify and resolve quality issues
  • Training and experience in problem solving skills such as Root Cause and Corrective Action and Preventive Action
  • Experience working with aerospace electro-mechanical devices such as motors, actuators, and controllers
  • Experience working with suppliers including initial supplier assessments, performing source inspection, and resolving quality issues
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Military or aerospace quality system experience
  • Experience as an AS9100 / ISO 9001 auditor
  • Experience working with CMM's and advanced inspection equipment


Compensation Range for:

CO applicants is $81,745.00-$114,442.65

  • Required for certain Job Profiles: Ability to obtain and maintain Merchant Mariner Credential, which includes pre-employment and random drug testing as well as DOT physical
