As part of a hardworking team of diverse human resource professionals, you will lead through influence and inclusive collaboration. Working together we will refine and support Blue Origin’s diversity, equity, and inclusion strategy. This role reports to the Director of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion and collaborates with other members of the HR team.

The DE&I Specialist is responsible for establishing the framework, developing the processes, and producing/reporting the workforce analysis to support the achievement of our DEI strategy. As part of this workforce analysis accountability, the DEI Specialist will also support our Affirmation Action Program process.

This individual will also serve as the key liaison between the DEI team and our various Business Resources Groups (affinity groups). You bring experience working in a scrappy medium-size business environment, including the ability to work on your own and in collaboration with key stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

  • Cultivate robust relationships with senior business leaders to deeply understand their needs and underscore the importance of DEI as a strategic business priority.

  • Translate the foundational elements of the Blue DEI strategy into actionable initiatives that align with overarching business objectives.

  • Continuously measure and analyze DEI metrics, identifying strengths and areas for improvement while offering consultative support to recommend targeted interventions and initiatives.

  • Act as a DEI subject matter expert, providing insights and knowledge to help the organization leverage DEI for global success through both strategic and tactical execution.

  • Provide leadership and coaching to managers and senior leaders, encouraging inclusive environments, equitable performance management, professional development, and workforce diversity.

  • Develop tailor-made regional strategies to address specific cultural needs, promoting appropriate cultural awareness and change.

  • Identify and integrate DEI best practices and benchmarks into various initiatives.

  • Effectively engage leaders through facilitation, presentation, negotiation, and influencing skills.

  • Lead the HR Center of Excellence teams in integrating and operationalizing DEI strategies across the business.

  • Establish positive and collaborative relationships with HR Business Partners (HRBPs) to ensure DEI initiatives are aligned with broader HR strategies and strategic objectives.

  • Oversee the development and implementation of DEI programs and projects, ensuring they are operationalized and scalable.

  • Prioritize efficiently, maintaining a keen focus on processes and attention to detail.

  • Consistently deliver innovative program development and project management with a focus on measurable outcomes and impact.

  • Provide data-driven consultative support to enhance DEI initiatives and achieve significant results.

  • Motivate and influence senior leadership, stakeholders, and peer groups to accomplish DEI goals.

  • Proactively address issues and remove barriers to success through effective collaboration.

  • Engage in high-level decision-making processes, providing strategic input and recommendations to senior leadership.

  • Use data and situational analysis to make informed decisions that drive DEI strategy and impact organization-wide.

  • Lead initiatives to tackle sophisticated and confidential issues, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and values.

  • Communicate ideas, concepts, and proposals clearly and concisely to engage teams, peers, and management.

  • Exhibit sophisticated interpersonal skills, with an emphasis on assertiveness, supportiveness, active listening, constructive confrontation, and group dynamics.

  • Maintain self-awareness of personal diversity and its impact on the DEI role.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree with 7+ years of experience or 10+ years of experience specifically in DEI work.
  • A results-oriented, driven leader capable of quickly assuming responsibilities and establishing credibility as a strategic partner.
  • Highly effective verbal and written communicator capable of engaging teams, peers, and leaders.
  • Proven strong analytical skills for converting metrics, research, and trends into actionable improvement opportunities.
  • Demonstrated leadership and ability to take charge of responsibilities, firmly establishing oneself as a credible strategic partner.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree or certifications in Human Resources, DEI, Data Science, or related fields.
  • Experience in global program management or as an HR generalist, with an understanding of front-line work environments.
  • Proven experience in leading project management and creative program development across various mediums.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate metrics, research, and trends into actionable improvements.
  • Demonstrated leadership and credibility in environments that require influencing and building relationships across a complex matrix.
  • Ability to inspire, influence, and optimize senior leadership, stakeholders, and peer groups.
  • Advanced interpersonal skills with a clear understanding of how personal diversity impacts the DEI role.

Compensation range for on-site WA applicants is $134,609-$188,451

Paid Time Off: Up to four (4) weeks per year based on weekly scheduled hours, and up to 14 company-paid holidays.

Discretionary bonus: Bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results.
