This role is part of the Safety, Quality, & Mission Assurance team. This team is focused on monitoring and assessing processes that guide Blue Origin design, manufacture, and operations, ensuring system safety engineering, environmental health and safety, product integrity and continuous improvement processes serve the Blue Origin Mission and Vision.
As part of a hardworking team of diverse specialists, technicians, and engineers you will be responsible for driving quality products throughout the organization by maintaining a culture that emphasizes accountability, drive, and attention to detail at all levels. This position requires a passion for solving sophisticated problems and providing operable solutions; act with minimal direction and take ownership; and be adaptable as we work on a variety of applications and systems. In this role, you will establish, implement, maintain, and make sure quality system processes that support Test and Flight ground systems. As needed, measure, analyze, and improve quality system performance consistent with organization quality goals, integrate quality system applications between engineering, project management, and operations to ensure the consistent and ongoing use of quality standard processes and communication. In addition, you will perform reviews and approve fabrication build documents including work orders and nonconformance records. Performs periodic audits of the application of our quality system in accordance with AS9100, recommend initiatives and/or changes that will improve product and system quality, and provide quality assurance subject matter expertise to inspection, fabrication, and test. Periodically, you will work with internal and external customers on quality related concerns and develop training materials to build quality awareness. You will report directly to the Quality Engineering Manager.

Responsibilities:
- Work hand-in-hand with Contractors and subcontractors to develop and complete project-specific QA/QC plan with scopes of work and work procedures
- Implement project-specific QA/QC Plan in coordination with the project safety plan
- Establish and maintain working relationships with contractors, subcontractors, architects, consultants, and vendors to ensure that the QA/AC Plan delivers a fully compliant project
- Conduct testing and inspections and arrange for third-party testing and inspections, as well as analyze and report results
- Review of anomalies and non-conformances due to fabrication, modification, and testing activities
- Lead ground system acceptance reviews and ensure alignment to and health of acceptance process
- Quality Assurance lead on Anomaly Review Board meetings for all nonconforming work
- Facilitate solving of quality issues with diverse teams, lead causal analysis activities to drive to root cause and corrective action
- Provide Quality support across multiple programs and work centers
- Perform program process surveillance ensuring compliance to requirements
- Provide experience within a start-up environment, transitioning a product from development, through fabrication to operations
Qualifications:
- Minimum of a B.S. in Engineering and/or 10+ years of Mechanical Systems related work
- 5+ years’ proven experience in Quality, Engineering and/or Ground Support Systems role in a program management environment.
- Familiarity with AS9100 or ISO9000 QM System and/or related quality systems and programs
- Experience with AWS, ASTM, ASME codes and standards
- Excellent communication skills, organized, attention to detail, and self-starter
- Ability to support program management schedules (first or second shift) and overtime on as needed basis
- Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and strengthen our culture of inclusion
- Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
Desired:
- American Society of Quality, Certified Quality Engineer certification
- Background in quality inspection and inspection tool capabilities
- Knowledge of construction process means and methods, and materials, their characteristics, installation procedures and tolerances
- PMP or Project Management Certificate
- Experience in Aerospace, ground systems, space launch, military/commercial aviation highly preferred.
- Experience with AWS D1.1, AWS 16.1, AWS 17.1 and/or AWS 17.2 welding processes and specifications.
- Experience with pipe & tube fabrication ASME B31.3 / AS33611 or equivalent
- Experience with pneumatics, cryogenic fluids, environmental controls, and hydraulic systems and their hazardous operations
- Familiarity with Non-Destructive Test inspection methods, including visual, dye penetrant, ultrasound, x-ray, CT scan, Eddy current, XRF scan
- Understanding of preventative maintenance (PM), predictive maintenance (PdM), and corrective maintenance processes
- Experience in GD&T fundamentals
- Experience creating, conducting, and delivering First Article Inspections Reports (FAIRs) and familiarity with AS9102
- Experience with quality tools such as Lean principles, Six Sigma, root cause analysis and corrective action
- Six Sigma Green, Black Belt, or comparable certification
- Experience with Primavera P6, CAD applications, CREO, Windchill, or JIRA
- Experience with advanced product quality planning (APQP), process failure mode and effects analysis (PFMEA), control plans, and various problem solving approaches
- Quality Management System audit experience
- Quality performance measurement analysis capabilities
Physical Requirements:
- This is a physically active, all four (4) seasons role with both indoor and outdoor work requirements, including rain, wind, cold, heat, & humidity
- Ability to lift 50 lbs.
- Ability to climb multiple flights of stairs
- Ability to work at heights
