As part of a small, passionate and accomplished team of experts, you will provide technical expertise and assist in implementation of all Environmental, Health and Safety programs at the West Texas site.

Technical safety program areas include, but not limited to: cryogenics process safety management, environmental permitting, waste management, TRRC and TCEQ correspondence and coordination, training development, procedure development and review, contractor safety oversight and safety planning, and other tasks as relevant. You must have a passion for continuous improvement of a safety culture and building agile safety processes. You must have a passion for solving complex problems and providing operable solutions and be capable of acting with minimal direction on your initiative. You will be responsible for helping to maintain a corporate culture that emphasizes accountability, discipline, and attention to detail at all levels.

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Ensure compliance with local, state and federal safety, health, and environmental regulations at the West Texas facilities.
  • Prepare and submit reports to federal and state regulatory agencies as required
  • Continually update and ensure compliance with the Blue Origin Health and Safety Manual
  • Indoctrinate new employees on our Safety Program
  • Review and approve contractor safety plans and initiate into our safety program
  • Manage hazardous and non-hazardous waste activities for the West Texas site
  • Manage the injury/illness and near miss reporting process
  • Lead incident investigations to identify root causes and corrective actions
  • Develop, update, and deliver EHS training
  • Serve as site focal point for safety issues and concerns
  • Evaluate operations for continuous process improvement and implementation of preventive action measures
  • Supporting development of job hazard analyses
  • Supporting development of procedures
  • Support and attend hazardous operations at the sites
  • Provide subject matter expertise to engineering and production resources related to EHS
  • Provide EHS related input for building design and operations.
  • Perform periodic audits of our Safety Programs

Qualifications:

  • B.S. degree in engineering, chemistry, industrial hygiene, or occupational safety and health-preferred
  • 5 years in operational safety roles
  • 5 years in environmental permitting and compliance
  • Knowledge of applicable safety and environmental regulations
  • Knowledge of process safety management methods
  • Knowledge of close call reporting practices and processes
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum. ​


Desired:

  • 10 + years total work
  • 5 years in safety or environmental roles, including at least 3 years supervisory experience
  • 2 years in aerospace industry
  • Competencies in high hazard operations, including pressure systems, chemical, electrical
  • Knowledge of Texas State safety and environmental regulations
  • Associate Safety Professional or Certified Safety Professional certification
  • HAZMAT and/or emergency response team experience
