As an Engines Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) and Support Engineering Manager in a matrix organization, in Huntsville, AL, you will lead a hardworking and accomplished team of rocket engine specialists and develop team members to support current and future program needs. You will be responsible for the employee’s entire Blue Origin life cycle, including hiring, performance management, training and providing tools for career development. You will help to improve technical processes, standard methodologies, and tool development with an interdisciplinary team that supports flight engine maintenance operations and implements systemic solutions for operational and technical issues. The Engines MRO and Support Engineering team ensures that all flight critical maintenance is complete and works collectively with manufacturing engineers and the BE-4 program to support all aspects of flight engine maintenance, flight support work execution and engine delivery tooling and logistics. Collaboration across sites, organizations and departments is critical for the applicant of this role to be successful.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a B.S. degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Electrical or Aerospace engineering (or relevant fields may apply)
  • 2+ years proven track record leading teams while shaping company-level policies and strategic direction
  • 5+ years of experience in rocket/aero engine testing, rocket/aero manufacturing or the like
  • Experience with MRO in aerospace industry
  • Proven ability overseeing, guiding, and mentoring fellow engineers
  • Strong coordination, personnel, and project management skills
  • Desire to work in a coordinated, fast paced, and dynamic environment
  • Track-record of promoting teamwork
  • Maintain employee training and development records
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Understanding of engines components such as turbopumps, combustion chambers, injectors, regulators, check valves, as well as electric, pneumatic and hydraulic valves, actuators and other fluid system components
  • Experience with anomaly investigations
  • Ability to be self-directed/self-starter while balancing several tasks at one time
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and develop a culture of inclusion within a team and across multiple organizations
  • Hands-on worker with passion for operational excellence and flawless execution
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum

Desired:

  • M.S. degree or higher
  • 5-7+ years of maintenance, repair and overhaul management
  • Familiarity with rocket engine system operations, verification process and risk management
  • Experience with anomaly investigations
  • Knowledge of systems engineering practices
  • History of justifying, procuring, installing, and integrating custom manufacturing equipment
  • Experience in project planning and successful execution of projects to cost and schedule targets
  • Background in logistics systems management in high technology industry
