This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Facilities, and Security. This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities.

As part of a diverse and hardworking operations team, you will supervise a team of technicians in the precision cleaning, chemical processing, and inspection of aerospace hardware for various spaceflight systems. You will lead the team in all aspects of propulsion module, engine, and subassembly manufacturing. The Cleaning, Passivation, and Verification Lab is a critical part of the company’s Integrated Supply Chain.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Supervising personnel: recruiting, quarterly performance reviews, coaching, managing work schedule, and monitoring labor hours and overtime.
  • Promoting and inspiring teamwork and good employee morale.
  • Working with engineers to review design concepts, provide feedback for ease of processing, support development tests and contribute to process development.
  • Managing resource projections and personnel assignments to meet demanding schedules.
  • Providing status updates on hardware deliveries at daily schedule meeting.
  • Developing training and ensuring team members’ training records are accurate.
  • Ensuring all products meet quality standards in accordance with released engineering.
  • Maintaining stock of consumable items.
  • Ensuring all tools and equipment are maintained and calibrated.
  • Ensuring proper 5S and FOD controls are in place and adhered to.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 2+ years of leadership experience
  • 2+ years of manufacturing or maintenance of chemical, fluid, and mechanical components such as pumps, turbines, tubing, instrumentation, valves, and associated rocket components.
  • Knowledge of drawing and work order review, and familiarity with issue tracking systems.
  • Strong organization and people skills in a team environment with multiple dynamic priorities.
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to an inclusive culture.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1+ years leading teams working on fluid systems with applied chemistry fundamentals, including passivation per AMS2700 and verification per IEST-STD-CC1246.
  • Certification in and/or knowledge of precision cleaning, chemical processing (degreasing, passivation per AMS2700, etch), and hardware inspection per IEST-STD-CC1246.
  • Familiarity with standard aerospace manufacturing materials and chemical compatibility.
  • Experience inspecting and troubleshooting aerospace or military hardware.
  • Familiarity with CAD/CAM drawing package (Windchill, Creo, etc.).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to interface with software systems, databases and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to document and maintain accurate records, as well as correctly interpret drawings and prints.
  • Ability to use standard assembly tools and high-precision laboratory equipment (computerized microscopes, titrators, rotary flash evaporators, solvent distilling systems, etc).
  • Attention to detail, passion for space and for success.
  • Must be physically able to: Climb ladders and stairs, and work in small, restricted areas
  • Lift and carry 25 lbs.
