The Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) Specialist for Rocket Engines will be responsible for supporting robust processing and safety of our rocket engines through effective MRO procedures. This role requires a deep understanding of rocket engine systems, components, and associated equipment and the ability to fix and resolve sophisticated technical issues.
We are part of a hardworking team of diverse specialists, technicians, and engineers, you will support the New Glenn Flight Support Engineering team in all aspects of engine maintenance, inspection, repair, overhaul, and process planning. The Senior MRO Specialist will lead interdisciplinary teams to support flight engine maintenance operations and implement systemic solutions for operational and technical issues. The MRO Specialist ensures that all flight critical maintenance is complete and works collectively with manufacturing engineers and the program to support all aspects of flight engine maintenance, and flight support work execution.
Responsibilities:
Lead all aspects of pre- and post-flight engine maintenance, inspection, repair, and overhaul of liquid rocket engines
Interpret design engineering requirements to advise touch-labor technicians in the maintenance, inspection, and installation of flight engine hardware
Establish, implement, and maintain quality system processes that support engine products for flight operations
Maintain hardware documentation pedigree to support human capable flight
Assist with flight engine schedule estimations and execution
Use continuous improvement tools to reduce cycle inefficiencies and process waste
Support the development of test equipment and tooling to aid in the completion of test objectives
Qualifications:
At least 10 years demonstrated experience in direct manufacturing of Aerospace hardware or MRO experience in aerospace or related industry
Ability to read and interpret engineering standards, technical requirements, and drawings with precision assembly requirements
Familiarity with standard processes regarding safety, the use of pneumatics, hydraulics, avionics, and hardware cleanliness
Desire to work hands-on, both independently and as part of a team, throughout the product life-cycle of our flight engines.
Able to work safely on the floor in an aerospace production environment
Familiarity with CAD applications (ProE preferred)
Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
Desired:
Experience with launch vehicle, rocket engine build and repair, aircraft or spacecraft MRO operations
Experience in developing, implementing, and leading predictive and preventive maintenance, inspection, and overhaul plans, as well as solving and providing technical support
Thorough understanding of preventative maintenance (PM), predictive maintenance (PdM), and corrective maintenance processes
Proven understanding of engines and subcomponents, such as turbopumps, combustion devices, valves, and other fluid components
Knowledge of systems engineering practices, hardware assembly processes, and quality control
Familiarity with common NDT and inspection methods, including visual, dye penetrant, ultrasound, x-ray, CT scan, Eddy Current, XRF scan
Hands-on experience with building engine assemblies and subassemblies for test
