Position Purpose: The purpose of this position is to create, maintain, and execute plans for Spacecraft Command and Data Handling (CDH) and Electrical Power Subsystem (EPS) avionics, used by the Spacecraft Product Line. The Spacecraft Avionics Manager will provide leadership and supervision in a team environment, leveraging resources that are matrixed in from Engineering, Operations, Mission Assurance, Supply Chain, Contracts, and other BCT organizations. The Avionics Manager will engage with the product line leadership, business development, and program teams to ensure that the avionics needs of the product line are met. Spacecraft avionics includes CDH equipment, power control and distribution equipment, flight units, and engineering development units (EDUs).

Pay Range: $125,000 - $235,000

Job Responsibilities:
- Serve spacecraft programs by providing compliant flight and EDU hardware, as well as responsibility for demanded hardware (cost, schedule, issues).
- Manage avionics product line balancing cost, schedule, and technical requirements; plan projects (requirements, budget, schedule); secure resources to execute; oversee execution, monitoring progress against budget and schedule constraints; managing risk mitigation and opportunity capture; provide regular status updates to product and program leadership.
- Working with product line leadership, establish product road maps that plan product evolution aligned with annual and long-range plans for the product line.
- Provide cost, schedule, and resource estimates for proposals and programs.
- Continuously evaluate product line needs for GSE, working with business development and product line leadership; prepare and submit capital requests and champion the request through to resolution. This effort includes developing cost estimates, return-on-investment estimates, and schedules for GSE development/procurement.
- Participate in system design balancing performance, emerging technologies, schedule, risk, and cost.
- Collaborate closely with technical program leads, manufacturing leads, and diverse domain expertise.
- Establish and maintain an inventory record of company-owned (capital) assets allocated to the avionics group. This includes maintaining a knowledge of the physical location of each asset, its condition, and its schedule for calibration/maintenance as required. Know what we have and what state it is in.
- Prepare for, present, and manage for successful conclusion at major program reviews, when requested.
- Evaluate existing and emerging technologies related to avionics.
- Drive efficient production practices to reduce scrap, downtime, and overall product cost and schedule.
- Ensure all business is conducted using the highest ethical standards and in compliance with all applicable laws, statutes, and regulations as well as company policies and directives.
- Will include personnel management responsibilities.

Required Qualifications/Education:
- At least 8+ years of relevant experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical Engineering or similar preferred), or Business Management with Engineering background.
- Good documentation and communication skills.
- Strong technical management skills and demonstrated ability to execute demanding programs.
- Ability to work rapidly with minimal supervision on projects involving both small and large engineering and production teams.
- Previous experience and skills in project management, production manufacturing, lab integration and test.
- Must be able to work in a highly collaborative, fast-paced environment.
- Electrical engineering and manufacturing experience preferred.
- Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education.
Working Conditions:
This job operates in a professional office environment, but in a manufacturing company. This role uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, scanners, filing cabinets and fax machines. BCT anticipates the application window closing approximately 40 days from the date the notice was posted.
