Position overview:
As a Sustainability Research Analyst you will support Ball’s Global Sustainability and Public Affairs team by delivering data-driven insights on packaging sustainability and circularity. The role focuses on sustainability data analysis, life cycle assessments, and reporting, translating complex information into clear, credible insights for internal stakeholders and external customers. This position contributes to Ball’s thought leadership in sustainable packaging and supports customer and regulatory-facing sustainability initiatives.
Key responsibilities include
- Conduct sustainability and circularity research, collecting, managing, and analyzing data from internal and external sources.
- Perform Life Cycle Assessments (LCA) and carbon footprint analyses to support internal tracking and customer requests.
- Maintain and develop global sustainability databases (e.g. recycling rates, carbon modelling inputs, regional cost structures).
- Support development of business intelligence tools and sustainability KPIs for internal and external reporting.
- Provide technical sustainability expertise and circularity support to regional teams and customers.
- Respond to customer and regional requests related to GHG emissions, product carbon footprints, LCA data, and sustainability metrics.
- Coordinate global and regional sustainability studies in collaboration with regional teams and business units.
- Support engagement with external stakeholders and industry bodies involved in sustainability standards, LCA, and circularity methodologies.
- Collaborate with Public Affairs & Sustainability on technical discussions to ensure aluminum packaging is appropriately represented.
What we’re looking for
- Bachelor’s degree in Sustainability, Environmental Science, Engineering, Data Analytics, or a related field.
- 2+ years of experience in sustainability research, data analysis, or LCA-related roles.
- Strong knowledge of carbon footprinting (product, corporate), life cycle assessment methodologies, and circularity concepts.
- Experience working with sustainability datasets, databases, and analytical tools.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate data into clear insights and narratives.
- Comfortable working with multiple stakeholders in a global, matrix environment.
- Strong communication skills in English; ability to present technical information clearly to non-technical audiences.
