Position Overview:


As a Regional Procurement Category Manager, you are a key member of the Other Direct Materials (ODM) Procurement team, reporting to the Director, Metal and ODM Procurement for North and Central America (NCA). You will contribute to the success of Ball by developing a comprehensive view of the balance between supply and demand and actively monitor multiple market conditions on an ongoing basis in order to make data informed decisions.

Your Key Areas of Responsibility Include:

  • Lead the full category management lifecycle process for regional categories including gathering, analyzing, and reporting on key market intelligence, developing a long-term, multi-year category strategy and development and evaluation of “go to market” strategies. Achieve creative commercial outcomes through negotiation planning and successful execution by directing cross functional teams of stakeholders.
  • Develop the detailed supplier relationship management and business continuity plans as well as category management strategy. Identify opportunities, own the category strategy implementation and activities, define the annual goals, be the primary owner of the management of the supplier relationship process.
  • Lead the performance management process for regional suppliers, including regular business reviews.
  • Work with and engage Global Category teams to facilitate positive outcomes for global categories.
  • Proactively report progress against regional sourcing goals/for the specified period.
  • Strategically lead a team of Plant Procurement Buyers located at the various manufacturing sites.
  • Lead any key Procurement Sustainability projects related to direct or indirect materials, when needed/as requested.
  • Collaborate with Plant Procurement Buyers to support their needs as they arise.
  • Active member of employee engagement team for Procurement Department.
  • Work closely with global counterparts and regional stakeholders to ensure that the global category strategies are executed to the benefit of the company.

Required Experience and Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in a supply chain, business or finance related discipline or equivalent education and experience.
  • 10 years of experience in progressively increasing responsibility roles in supply chain, procurement or other business-related operations in a global environment.
  • Demonstrated skills:
    • Advanced financial analytical skills and experience in enhancing value through negotiations.
    • Strategic orientation, inquisitive, comfortable with ambiguity, and self-motivated to identify trends and improvement opportunities aligned with business objectives and strategic plans.
    • Ability to build effective relationships, influence peers and key stakeholders, and built consensus.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to tailor messages to the given audience and present information in a clear and concise manner.
    • Strong problem solving and analytical skills with ability to extract key themes, determine root causes, develop creative solutions, and craft concise messages.
    • Ability to prioritize, organize, and multitask in a flexible, fast-paced and challenging environment.
    • High proficiency with Microsoft Office Tools, specifically Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Master’s degree or advanced certification (e.g. MBA, CPM, CPSM, CPSC, PMP) .
  • People leadership experience.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Hiring Salary Range: $96,000 - $137,180 (Salary to be determined by the applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.)
  • This role will be eligible to participate in the annual incentive compensation plan.

  • Hybrid On-Site Work Environment: Based in Colorado, this position requires regular in-person engagement by working on-site for three (3) or more days per work week (with core collaboration days of Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday). Travel (up to 10%) and local commute between Ball locations and other possible non-Ball locations may be required.
