Position overview:
This position is responsible for the reviewing, recording, accounting, and analysis of accounting matters, including compensation and certain employee benefit programs, consolidation processes and technical accounting topics within the corporate ledger. Operates in a SOX regulated environment by performing detailed reviews and helps to ensure that the corporate ledger, and consolidated results are free from material misstatements.
Key responsibilities include:
• Manages the work of Corporate Senior Accountants to ensure each is properly trained to perform their assigned tasks, provides developmental opportunities to strengthen their individual skills and assumes responsibility for ensuring processes and practices are properly designed and efficient, documented, adhered to, and updated as required.
• Responsible for the completion and review of key functions as part of the month end closing process, including the preparation and input of journal entries. Records transactions for the various ledgers including stock, derivatives, compensations and benefits, debt transactions as well as intercompany transactions.
• Understands and executes against key SOX control activities over the financial close process.
• Understands the compensation and benefits plans and systems to ensure benefit information is properly accounted for, recorded and posted to the general ledger.
• Prepares, analyzes or reviews the activity for accounting records related to restricted stock programs for employees and non-employee directors, incentive compensation plans, deferred compensation plans, the COLI/TOLI plan and pension plans.
• Prepares and or reviews the pension plan(s) and 401K financial statements and coordinates and or participates in the external audit of the plans.
• Directs the reconciliation of the payroll withholding accounts, including all withholding tax accounts, the 401(k) account, the Employee Stock Purchase Plan account, and other related accounts.
• Acts as a liaison to the business partners and external/internal auditors on accounting issues and analyses.
• Completes and communicates budgeted amounts to planning teams as well as any updates when they are recognized.
What are we looking for?
• Broad training in a related field usually acquired through university degree.
• Minimum of 5 years of job-related experience.
• Strong understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and financial reporting standards.
• Clear comprehension of financial information systems.
• Experience in public accounting preferred.
• Fluent in English.
