Position overview:

The Senior Financial Analyst will act as a subject matter expert for the Ball group with respect to statutory reporting, IFRS to US GAAP differences and consolidated external financial reporting. This role will support the Financial Reporting Manager in developing the center of expertise for financial reporting compliance in Belgrade.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Responsible for preperation of statutory accounts for Ball Corporation legal entities, liaising with external audit teams, tax, accounting teams and external service provider and working on the global standardization of the statutory reporting process (e.g., through introduction of new templates, reporting manuals, GAAP vs GAAP guidance, etc.)
  • Functional leadership over the quarterly accounts reconciliation process, cross segment cooperation and stewardship on the operational effectiveness of SOX controls
  • Cross functional (e.g., Tax, legal, treasury, etc.) cooperation in entity rationalization activities, related to the group reorganization and dissolution of legal entities. Coordinating of cross functional teams, active participation in collection of historical data on legal entities, preparating of interim and year-end statutory accounts, keeping track of the entity rationalization ongoing projects
  • Taking an active role in the preparation of supporting schedules for quarterly and annual (10Q/K) footnote disclosures, especially in the area of derivative disclosures
  • International coordination of statutory reporting requests in service providing areas, coordination of and taking active participation in the preparation of GAAP vs GAAP bridge files. Driving collection and preparation of the supporting information used in the preparation of statutory accounts and related disclosures
  • Cooperating with auditors and associated internal functions, across geographies, in order to proactively address changes in statutory reporting requirements. Taking a leadership role in monitoring and responding to changes in international accounting rules
  • Maintaining and updating compliance calendar for filing responsibilities around the group and coordinates communication with teams around the group in order to ensure they meet their filing responsibilities
  • Global support to other functions within the controllers group
  • Understanding and executing against key SOX control activities for compliance and reporting
  • Developing and maintaining various financial reports using JDE, HFM, and Smartview Excel files

What are we looking for?

  • Graduate degree level education in accounting or work related experience

  • Job related experience for 3 years minimum in accounting, big 4 preferred

  • Certifications: CPA or local equivalent

  • Comprehensive knowledge of the following areas:

    • IFRS/Local GAAP. US GAAP knowledge a plus

    • Month end/year end close and consolidation processes

    • Integrated financial and ERP systems

    • General management techniques and principles

  • Meets tight deadlines consistently and reliably, and is responsible for communicating any deadlines that may be missed to immediate supervisor in a timely manner

  • Fluency in English required
