We are looking for an experienced Manufacturing Engineer, who will primarily be responsible for aiding Axiom’s Assembly & Integration Team with all aspects of spaceflight hardware manufacturing for the Axiom Commercial Space Station. We are looking for an individual who is passionate about all phases of the development, production/procurement, and assembly of spaceflight hardware. The role requires strong organizational, time management, and communication skills.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to define project scope, goals, and deliverables

  • Interfacing with Engineering subsystem teams to assist in Spacecraft hardware design and development

  • Creating and updating working instructions to include drawing reviews, process specifications, and required certifications

  • Implementing and maintaining agile project management methodologies throughout the project lifecycle

  • Providing guidance and recommendations on Design for manufacturability (DfM), Design for Assembly (DfA) and Design for Integration (DfI)

  • Generating manufacturing bill of materials (MBOM) upon release of engineering drawings

  • Working closely with spacecraft designers to ensure hardware is assembled, integrated, tested, and ready for space flight

  • Reviewing plans, inspecting fabrications, conducting investigations, and providing recommendations as necessary to assure compliance with aerospace established requirements, regulations, guidelines, and procedures

  • Ensuring production cycles are met from product design through acceptance, including product fabrication

  • Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in manufacturing engineering, mechanical engineering, or related field required

  • 10+ years’ experience in Manufacturing/Project Engineering, or similar role

  • Spaceflight hardware sourcing, procurement, manufacturing, and assembly background

  • Experience with SOLIDWORKS 3D modeling software or similar computer-aided design tools

  • Experience with PDM tools such as Siemens Teamcenter, SOLIDWORKS PDM or similar

  • Experience with producibility reviews, drawings reviews, and configuration control processes

  • Experience authoring work instructions

  • Experience with Atlassian suite

  • Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to address project challenges

  • Demonstrated time management and organization skills to meet tight deadlines and quality objectives

  • Highly proficient in MS Office software (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Generally, an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on the task

Requirements

  • Must be able to complete a U.S. government background investigation

  • Management has the prerogative to select at any level for which the position is advertised

  • Proof of U.S. Citizenship or US Permanent Residency is a requirement for this position

Physical Requirements

  • Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of the time)

  • May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of the time)
