The Systems Engineer - Verification & Validation (V&V) & Test will work on-site in Houston, Texas and will encompass all phases of the space systems development process including requirements definition, design, integration, test, and operations. The role will be primarily focused on our verification and validation strategy, planning, and implementation then transitioning to a test focused role. The test duties will include test planning, performance of Test Readiness Reviews (TRRs), and overseeing of programmatic test execution. Prior experience developing space systems for challenging environments and missions is preferred. Experience with space environment(s), NASA human rated spaceflight, and test support equipment is desired.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Plan, coordinate, and implement verification and validation activities, including.

  • Defining system, subsystem, and component verification approaches.

  • Defining verification requirements.

  • Allocating verifications to verification activities.

  • Planning and coordinating implementation of activities.

  • Draft closure notice to perform verification close-out.

  • Define and manage integrated V&V test plans, procedures, and schedule across all engineering teams.

  • Define and coordinate verification requirements for suppliers as part of the integrated V&V plan.

  • Collaborate with system and subsystem engineers, program office personnel and customers for V&V planning, scheduling and execution.

  • Capture evidence from completed verification activities to create verification closure notices and coordinate requirement close-out.

  • Prepare test plans and presentations for peers, management, and external customers and partners.

  • Conduct test readiness reviews with stakeholders.

  • Coordinate with external test facilities.

  • Travel as needed for test events. (Less than 20%).

  • Perform other systems engineering tasks as necessary.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in an engineering (aerospace, electrical, mechanical, or related discipline).

  • A minimum of 6 years SE experience with a minimum of 1 year in V&V.

  • Effective in working in a start-up environment with the ability to lead, drive and implement tactical change.

  • Experience in the V&V strategy development, planning and execution activities.

  • Experience with NASA human spaceflight programs desired.

  • Related experience in the testing of spacecraft, spacesuits, space vehicles, and their related components and systems is desired.

  • Experience with the use of test and measurement equipment for testing and troubleshooting.

  • Experience with simulator/hardware test development and execution is desirable.

  • A strong attention to detail while appreciating the bigger picture of the complex and ambitious projects that we take on.

  • Demonstrated leadership and extensive collaboration skills.

  • Excellent writing and presentation skills with experience communicating to senior decision-makers and technical audiences.

  • Ability to work in small team environment with broad responsibilities and minimal oversight.

  • Certification as INCOSE Systems Engineering Professional preferred.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Generally, an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on the task.

Requirements

  • Must be able to complete a U.S. government background investigation.

  • Management has the prerogative to select at any level for which the position is advertised.

  • Proof of U.S. Citizenship or US Permanent Residency is a requirement for this position.

Physical Requirements

  • Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of the time). May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of the time).
