Senior Power Electronics Engineer - High Voltage
Auriga Space
This is the opportunity of a lifetime. Auriga Space is revolutionizing space access by developing electromagnetic space launch systems that offer significant advantages in launch cost, reliability, frequency, and responsiveness compared to traditional rockets.
Role Summary: We are looking for a senior electrical engineer with a specialization in power electronics to join our team and help drive hardware projects through their life cycle: starting with requirements generation, concept development, detail design, manufacturing, and finally testing and commissioning. The ideal candidate will thrive in a start-up environment and be excited to work with a small, high-performing, and hands-on team.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Provide oversight, design, and testing of high voltage circuitry and systems (5kV and above)
- Capture detailed hardware requirements, build prototypes, select components, design schematics, perform PCB layouts, and validate designs.
- Collaborate with systems architecture, mechanical, PCB layout, manufacturing, reliability, and firmware engineering teams to design, test, validate, and manufacture high voltage hardware.
- Use multi-physics design and simulation tools (e.g., Altium/OrCAD, Ansys, CATIA/3DX) to support design efforts
- Contribute to the architecture and modeling of power electronics topologies that improve performance and efficiency
Basic Qualifications
- 5 to 8 years of hands-on relevant engineering experience
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (or similar)
- Comfortable working in high voltage environments (5kV and above) and outstanding track record for safety.
- Proficiency in the theory and application of magnetics (inductors, transformers) and capacitors for high-voltage applications
- Familiar with schematic capture, circuit simulation tools, and PCB layout techniques for minimal inductance/capacitance and EMC optimization
- Proficiency with basic EE tools (Oscilloscopes, Network Analyzers, Signal Generators) and test automation programming
- Knowledge of basic control theory and experience with embedded programming
Desired Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering (or similar)
- 10 or more years of experience designing and testing high voltage systems
- Experience with pulse power applications
