About Atomic Industries
Atomic Industries is reinventing how the world makes things. From cars and aerospace systems to medical devices and packaging, most physical goods begin life in a mold or are shaped by a manufacturing tool. Producing these tools has always been slow, manual, and dependent on scarce expertise, taking weeks or months. We’re changing that.
At our Detroit headquarters, we combine the industrial DNA of America’s manufacturing heartland with the speed, intelligence, and precision of Silicon Valley. Our AI-driven platform tackles the hardest problems in geometry, process planning, and fabrication, collapsing production timelines from months to days and soon, minutes. We don’t just build software; we run a fully operational factory where our technology produces production-grade tooling every week, enabling tight feedback loops and rapid iteration.
Backed by top-tier investors, we’re restoring speed, flexibility, and capability to the American industrial base. Our mission is to make manufacturing as agile and scalable as the digital world, and in doing so, rebuild the infrastructure of the physical economy.
Position Overview
We’re hiring a Senior Injection Molding Maintenance Technician to lead preventative, corrective, and emergency maintenance across our molding operations. You’ll be responsible for keeping our presses, robotics, and support equipment running at peak performance with minimal downtime.
This is a hands-on role requiring deep mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic knowledge—especially with large-tonnage machines (500T–2000T). You’ll also play a key role in shaping our PM program, tracking downtime data, and helping scale a next-generation factory.
Key Responsibilities
Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair injection molding machines (190T–2000T), robots, dryers, chillers, and other auxiliary equipment
Perform mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic repairs with minimal supervision
Develop and execute preventive maintenance (PM) schedules and maintain detailed logs
Support installation and commissioning of new equipment
Collaborate with engineering and production teams to identify recurring issues and implement long-term solutions
Assist with electrical and facility infrastructure as needed (e.g., power distribution, sensors, air, water systems)
Keep critical spare parts inventory organized and recommend reorders
Train and mentor junior techs and machine operators in basic troubleshooting
Respond to urgent maintenance calls during production shifts and after-hours when needed
Equipment You’ll Maintain
Injection molding machines (Niigata, JSW, etc.)
Yushin/Sepro/Star automation systems
Material handling systems (loaders, blenders, dryers)
Cooling systems: chillers, tower, mold temp controllers
Facility systems: compressors, cranes, power distribution
Qualifications
5+ years experience in injection molding maintenance, preferably with large-tonnage machines
Strong understanding of machine hydraulics, electric systems (480V 3-phase), and controls
Ability to read schematics, ladder logic, and troubleshoot PLC-controlled systems
Skilled in mechanical rebuilds, servo systems, and machine alignment
Comfortable in a startup environment—able to wear multiple hats and take initiative
Bonus: Experience with predictive maintenance tools, CMMS systems, or equipment calibration
High school diploma or technical certificate required; advanced training or licensing preferred
What You’ll Get
Competitive pay, benefits, and equity opportunity
Access to brand new equipment and the opportunity to help set up a greenfield facility
Influence over maintenance strategy and equipment selection
Career growth toward Maintenance Supervisor or Facilities Lead
