What You'll Do:
- Test Setup and Execution: Prepare and set up test environments for various space systems and components, including thermal, thermal vacuum, vibration, EMI/EMC, and environmental testing
- Testing Operations: Execute tests in line with established procedures and protocols to verify system performance, reliability, and safety in various conditions
- Troubleshooting: Identify and diagnose technical issues during testing, documenting faults, and collaborating with engineers to implement solutions
- Equipment Calibration: Ensure all test equipment is properly calibrated and in working order, making adjustments as necessary to ensure accuracy
- Data Collection and Analysis: Collect and document test data, ensuring precise measurements and record-keeping. Analyze test results to detect trends and identify potential issues
- Maintenance of Test Equipment: Assist in the maintenance, repair, and setup of testing equipment, including environmental chambers, vibration tables, dynamometers and power systems
- Collaborate with Engineering Teams: Work closely with test engineers and other technical teams to interpret test results, communicate issues, and contribute to the continuous improvement of testing procedures
- Documentation and Reporting: Prepare detailed reports and test logs, including summaries of test results, anomalies, and corrective actions taken. Maintain accurate records of test activities
- Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations during test operations. Ensure safe handling of test equipment and components, especially high-voltage or hazardous systems
- Continuous Improvement: Contribute to the development of new testing methods, tools, and techniques to improve efficiency, accuracy, and quality of tests
- Training: Able to effectively train peers on equipment and process requirements
What’s Prepared You:
- Associate’s degree in Electronics, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 4+ years of experience working with space systems or high-tech systems in a testing environment (e.g., aerospace, defense, electronics)
- Proficiency in operating and troubleshooting electronic, mechanical, and environmental test equipment
- Experience with testing methods such as thermal cycling, vibration, vacuum, EMI/EMC, and functional testing
- Knowledge of space system components (e.g., satellites, propulsion systems, avionics, power systems) is preferred
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and specifications
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and address testing issues
- Ability to follow detailed procedures and instructions while also applying critical thinking when issues arise
- Basic knowledge of safety protocols for handling complex systems and high-energy equipment
- Strong communication skills to collaborate with engineers and other team members
- Attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in all aspects of testing and documentation
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including overtime, as testing schedules may require
- Experience with test automation and data acquisition systems
- Knowledge of space industry standards and certifications (e.g., GEV, MIL-STD, ISO)
- Familiarity with the use of specialized test software and diagnostic tools.
- Experience with spacecraft integration and system-level testing
- Experience with harness manufacturing per IPC and J standard
