Position Summary
AstroForge is seeking talented and driven R&D Engineer with 3-5 years of experience in designing, building, and prototyping advanced devices, particularly in the fields of robotics and photonics. The ideal candidate has a strong background in hands-on development, problem-solving, and systems integration, preferably within the aerospace or mining industries.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and Prototyping: Develop and prototype innovative robotics and photonics devices for use in challenging environments.
- Testing and Validation: Conduct performance testing and iterate designs to meet stringent technical and environmental requirements.
- Systems Integration: Collaborate across disciplines to integrate mechanical, electrical, and optical subsystems into cohesive and functional devices.
- Materials and Manufacturing: Evaluate materials and manufacturing techniques to optimize device performance, reliability, and scalability.
- Problem-Solving: Identify technical challenges and develop creative, practical solutions to overcome them.
- Documentation: Maintain detailed records of design processes, test results, and project progress.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related field.
- Experience: 3-5 years of professional experience in R&D, focusing on robotics and photonics, ideally in the aerospace or mining industries.
- Technical Expertise: Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Autodesk Fusion 360) for design and prototyping. Familiarity with optical systems and photonic devices, including lasers, sensors, and imaging systems. Knowledge of robotic systems, including actuators, sensors, and control systems. Hands-on experience with prototyping techniques (3D printing, CNC machining, etc.).Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Communication Skills: Demonstrated ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced R&D environment, balancing multiple priorities and adapting to evolving challenges.
