Job Description:
As a Structures Technician at AstroForge, you will play a key role in building and maintaining our aerospace structures. You'll have a wide range of responsibilities, working closely with our team to ensure the success of our missions. Your role will involve modifying, assembling, and installing critical flight hardware, preparing materials for fabrication, and using a variety of hand and power tools to complete complex structural tasks.
Responsibilities:
- Modify, repair, assemble, and install aerospace structures and components.
- Operate fabrication tools and machines, including drills, saws, rotary tools, among others.
- Perform a variety of fabrication techniques such as match drilling, fastener installation, material preparation, and composite panel insert installation.
- Assemble spacecraft subassemblies and components according to work instructions with precise torque specifications.
- Installation of secondary fastener retention methods, such as fastener head staking and lock wire installation.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to interpret drawings and ensure all work meets exacting standards.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace, adhering to all safety guidelines.
General Requirements:
- 3+ years of experience in aerospace structures.
- Strong understanding of structural assembly processes, including drilling, fastening, and bonding.
- Experience with general fabrication techniques and using a variety of hand and power tools.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and work instructions.
- Strong attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work onsite in Seal Beach, CA.
Preferred Requirements:
- Experience working in a startup or dynamic work environment.
- Familiarity with aerospace materials, such as aluminum alloys, composites, and adhesives.
- Experience with composite sandwich panel insert potting and composite fabrication techniques.
- Experience working on satellite flight hardware, with knowledge of component safety practices such as electrostatic discharge avoidance and foreign object debris mitigation.
- Experience in fastener retention installation is a plus, especially in aviation or space applications.
Salary
40/hr - 45/hr or salary equivalent
