The Opportunity
Astra is seeking a highly motivated, experienced Senior Corporate Accountant to join our growing team. The Senior Corporate Accountant will work closely with other accountants and assist with day-to-day operations of the Company’s accounting function, including month-end close and reporting processes.
We are looking for someone who is detail-oriented, technical, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment independently and collaboratively. You will be an integral part of our growing accounting team and must have excellent interpersonal and written communication, analytical, and organizational skills. The Senior Corporate Accountant will report to the Assistant Controller.

How You'll Fulfill Your Mission

  • Play a key role in the month-end close process by preparing and reviewing account reconciliations, keeping team priorities on track, and working across the organization to obtain relevant information.
  • Assist in implementing and up leveling our accounting policies and procedures to ensure all financial transactions are accounted for in accordance with GAAP principles.
  • Understand the Company product offerings, including accounting implications for new verticals and other technical accounting concepts for various transactions.
  • Own areas of the year-end financial statement audit to ensure a smooth and timely process.
  • Support systems implementations and participate in user acceptance testing (UAT) for new accounting tools.
  • Identify potential process improvements and initiate actions to affect change.
  • Perform special projects, ad-hoc reports, and analysis as required.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5+ years of technical and corporate accounting experience with increasing levels of responsibilities
  • Experience with preparation of monthly financial statements and variance analysis to ensure completeness and accuracy of results in accordance with GAAP, and compliance with internal policies
  • Experience with revaluations, translations, cost allocations, including creation and maintenance of supporting documentation and reconciliations
  • Experience in developing and maintaining accounting policies and procedures; and, implementing internal control procedures (SOX) in areas of responsibility
  • Demonstrated experience improving and maintaining the data integrity within an ERP system
  • Hands-on experience with accounting software packages like NetSuite, QuickBooks, Microsoft Dynamics, etc.
  • Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills with demonstrated history in establishing and maintaining solid working relationships across functional areas and senior leadership
  • Advanced MS Excel skills, including v-lookup formulas and pivot tables
  • BS in Accounting / BS in Business with emphasis in accounting

Desired Multipliers

  • Experience working for manufacturing, automotive, and/or complex hardware companies
  • Start-up experience highly desired
  • Combination of Big 4 background and industry experience preferred
  • CPA license or active CPA candidate optional
  • Knowledge and experience of ASC 830
ITAR Requirements: This position requires compliance with U.S. Government space technology trade restrictions, specifically the International Trafficking in Arms Regulations (ITAR), Export Administration Regulations (EAR) and additional regulations governing satellite, launch vehicle, missile, and other related technologies. All jobs restricted by these regulations will be contingent upon the applicant’s status as a documented U.S. Person or their ability to receive a trade license from the cognizant government agency; in addition to any required company background checks and in compliance with applicable U.S. and California laws. Similarly, positions requiring the ability to work on government contracts or a security clearance are also contingent upon the applicants ability to receive the appropriate clearance and be allowed to work on U.S. government contracts.
