This position is based in our satellite production facility in Midland, TX.

Position Overview
AST Space Mobile is seeking a Production Control Associate who is responsible for coordinating and expediting the flow of materials, parts, and work orders throughout the production process to ensure materials are available to support manufacturing schedules and customer delivery requirements. This position supports production control activities by monitoring inventory, work-in-process (WIP), material shortages, and production priorities to maintain operational efficiency and schedule adherence. The Production Expediter works closely with Production, Planning, Procurement, Warehouse, Engineering, and Quality teams to ensure the timely movement of materials and products through the manufacturing process.
Base Pay is $22
Shift Schedules
- 1st Shift – Days:
Monday–Thursday, 7:30 a.m.–5:30 p.m. (4x10 schedule) with paid lunch and breaks - 2nd Shift – Nights:
Monday–Thursday, 6:00 p.m.–4:00 a.m. (4x10 schedule) with a 10% shift differential and paid lunch and breaks - 3rd Shift – Weekends:
Friday–Sunday, 6:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m. (3x12 schedule) with a 20% shift differential and paid lunch and breaks - Flexibility: Night and weekend shifts may be available with shift differential pay depending on business needs.
What you'll do:
- Compile and maintain records regarding the quantity, cost, and type of materials received, shipped, inventoried, and in production.
- Expedite the movement of materials, parts, assemblies, and work orders within and between departments according to production schedules and customer requirements.
- Monitor material availability and identify actual or potential shortages; coordinate corrective actions to minimize production disruptions.
- Work closely with Production, Planning, Procurement, Engineering, Quality, and Warehouse teams to resolve material flow issues and support production priorities.
- Monitor and track inventory levels, including materials in Work-in-Process (WIP), On-Hold, Material Review Board (MRB), Inspection, and warehouse locations.
- Assist with prioritizing production orders and material movement to support manufacturing schedules and on-time delivery goals.
- Estimate, track, and document production rates, lead times, and workflow status to support production planning activities.
- Ensure inventory transactions and material movements are accurately recorded in ERP/MRP systems.
- Process and reconcile scrapped, obsolete, damaged, or nonconforming materials within inventory systems.
- Support cycle counts, inventory audits, and inventory accuracy initiatives.
- Coordinate with Material Planning and Purchasing teams to ensure materials are ordered and received in support of production schedules.
- Escalate material shortages, schedule conflicts, and production delays to appropriate stakeholders.
- Maintain accurate production, inventory, and material control records.
- Follow all company policies, procedures, quality requirements, and safety standards.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
What you bring:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience in manufacturing, production control, inventory control, warehouse operations, logistics, materials management, or a related field.
- Basic mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Intermediate computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience utilizing ERP, MRP, inventory management, or manufacturing systems.
- Ability to read and interpret work orders, inventory reports, and production schedules.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to inventory accuracy.
- Ability to communicate effectively with employees at all levels of the organization.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, Manufacturing, or a related field.
- Experience with ERP/MRP systems such as NetSuite, Epicor, Solumina, SAP, Oracle, or similar manufacturing software.
- Experience in aerospace, manufacturing, production control, materials management, inventory control, or warehouse operations.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including reporting, filtering, sorting, and data analysis.
- Knowledge of production scheduling, inventory management, material planning, and manufacturing processes.
- Experience supporting high-volume manufacturing or production environments.
Physical Requirements & Work Environment:
- Ability to work in a manufacturing and warehouse environment with frequent standing, walking, and movement throughout the shift.
- Ability to sit, stand, and/or walk for extended periods of time.
- Ability to use hands and fingers to perform repetitive tasks, data entry, and computer work.
- Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, squat, climb, reach, and balance as required to perform job duties.
- Ability to lift, push, pull, and/or carry items weighing up to 35 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Ability to work in, on, around, and in proximity to machinery, equipment, material handling devices, and production tooling.
- Ability to work near moving mechanical parts and equipment.
- Ability to visually inspect materials, inventory labels, documentation, and production information.
- Ability to communicate effectively, including talking and hearing.
- Ability to work in environments that may include exposure to noise, dust, fumes, airborne particles, and varying temperatures.
- Ability to follow all company safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
