Position Overview
We are seeking a motivated Part-Time Systems Engineer to support the development and operation of advanced space systems. In this role, you will work closely with senior systems engineers to help define, analyze, and document mission and subsystem requirements, maintain technical budgets, and support system-level design and verification activities.
This position is ideal for an early-career engineer looking to gain hands-on experience in complex space system development within a fast-paced and collaborative environment. The successful candidate will have a strong technical foundation, attention to detail, and enthusiasm for learning how individual subsystems integrate into a complete spacecraft or mission architecture.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support development and maintenance of system-level technical budgets (mass, power, data, etc.).
- Assist in requirements definition, traceability, and verification planning.
- Contribute to design review preparation and documentation.
- Coordinate with subsystem leads to collect and consolidate technical data.
- Participate in system modeling, analysis, and trade studies as needed.
- Provide general support to the Systems Engineering team across all mission phases.
Qualifications
- Background or coursework in aerospace, mechanical, electrical, or systems engineering.
- Familiarity with systems engineering principles
- Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills.
- Interest in space systems design and operations.
Education:
Currently pursuing or recently completed a bachelor’s degree in aerospace, mechanical, electrical, or systems engineering, or a related technical discipline.
Experience:

- Adaptability: comfortable working in a dynamic, fast-moving environment with shifting priorities.
- Organizational skills: able to manage multiple small tasks, documentation updates, and follow-ups simultaneously.
Technology Stack:
Required:
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) for data analysis, documentation, and reporting.
Desired / Preferred:
- Experience with MATLAB and Simulink for modeling and analysis.
- Familiarity with STK (Systems Tool Kit) or similar mission analysis software.
- Exposure to requirements management tools (e.g., Jama, or similar).
- Basic understanding of configuration management or modeling tools (e.g., Confluence, Jira, or SysML environments) is a plus.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to work in a standard office environment and use a computer for extended periods.
