Position Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated Quality Engineer with experience in aerospace electronics, assemblies, integration, and testing. The role ensures high-quality standards across production, testing, and processes, supporting compliance with industry standards such as IPC 610, IPC 620, ISO 9001 and AS9100. The ideal candidate has strong problem-solving skills, is a fast learner, and demonstrates exceptional communication skills to drive quality standards across multi-disciplinary teams. Responsibilities include quality assurance, continuous improvement, and oversight of strategic sub-contractor manufacturing processes.

Key Responsibilities:
• Maintain and support the quality management system (QMS) as the functional lead for production and integration
• Ensure production and testing meet AST’s quality standards
• Conduct system, process, and special process audits, including at electronic manufacturing facilities of sub-contractors
• Approve first production samples (PPAP) and review documentation such as control plans, PFMEA, certificates, and technical specifications
• Evaluate, monitor, and improve production processes to meet quality and delivery requirements
• Conduct production audits, assess corrective actions, and drive continuous improvement initiatives
• Collaborate with production teams to resolve quality issues and implement preventive measures
• Monitor KPIs, SCSRs, NCRs, audit results, and risk indicators to provide periodic status reports to QA management
• Support assembly integration and validation, including SMT/THT, soldering, ICT/FCT testing, stacking and conformal coating
• Review non-conformances and test data to ensure resolution of quality issues
• Lead root-cause investigations using 8D, 5 Why, Ishikawa, and implement corrective/preventive actions
• Collaborate with Engineering and Production to reduce defects and improve process robustness
• Identify and mitigate risks in production and processes through proactive FMEA reviews
• Act as the primary contact for quality-related topics on the production floor
• Prepare clear, data-driven reports and presentations for QA management
• Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to meet project objectives

Qualifications

Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Electronics Engineering, Telecommunications, or related field

Experience:
A minimum of 3 years experience in aerospace/automotive electronics and electronics manufacturing

Preferred Qualifications:
• Proven experience in managing/auditing sub-contractors and outsourced production lines
• Experience with electronic manufacturing, SMT/THT, soldering, ICT/FCT, AOI, XRAY, Functional testing, IPC610/620, working with sub-contractors
• Knowledge of production processes, integration, and testing
• Hands-on with ISO 9001, AS9100, NASA/ESA/Mil STD
• Proficient in quality tools: CAPA, 8D, FMEA, PPAP, MSA, SPC, root-cause analysis
• Ability to read electronic schematics, datasheets, and technical documentation

Soft Skills:
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills
• High level technical English (both written and verbal) for technical reporting and international supplier communication
• Fast learner and adaptable in a dynamic, fast-paced aerospace environment
• Detail-oriented, methodical, and proactive
• Ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines
• Commitment to continuous improvement and excellence

Physical Requirements
• Willingness to travel (up to 30%) and work on-site at sub-contractor production facilities as needed
• Ability to work in a standard office environment and use a computer for extended periods
