Position Overview
AST SpaceMobile is seeking a highly skilled, security-focused Senior IT Engineer to lead the architecture, implementation, and ownership of our CMMC Level 2 (NIST SP 800-171) network. This individual will be the technical lead for standing up a secure corporate and defense environment, ensuring all systems meet stringent DoD regulatory requirements, including CUI, ITAR, and FOCI mitigation.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the implementation, enhancement, and sustainment of a CMMC Level 2 compliant network infrastructure.
- Provide hardware and software support for end users across workstations, servers, and mobile platforms.
- Deploy and maintain on-premises hardware including routers, switches, servers, and workstations.
- Establish and enforce governance processes, change control procedures, and data standards.
- Manage user accounts in on-premises Active Directory and cloud-based identity providers.
- Ensure enterprise systems adhere to CUI, ITAR, export control, and FOCI-mitigated access restrictions.
- Create and maintain meticulous systems documentation for repeatability and audit compliance.
- Perform software installations, patches, and upgrades to maintain system security and integrity.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose system issues across hardware and software layers.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, engineering, or a related technical field preferred
Experience:
- 7+ years of experience in systems implementation or enterprise systems leadership
- 5+ years of experience with Windows desktop support
- 5+ years of experience with hardware maintenance tasks such as racking servers, switches, deploying workstations, setting up printers, etc.
- Good working knowledge of networking fundamentals such as the OSI model, TCP/IP stack, communication protocols, firewalls, routing, etc.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with CUI, ITAR, and FOCI-mitigated organizational requirements
- Experience supporting DoD or aerospace/defense programs, including exposure to FAR/DFARS and NIST 800-171
- Experience with virtualization products such as Hyper-V or VMWare.
- Experience with cloud Infrastructure as a Service such as AWS or Azure.
- Experience with Cisco Meraki network infrastructure.
- Experience with macOS, iOS, and Android devices.
- Scripting and automation experience.
- Experience with Dell iDRAC.
