RAN Deployment Engineer (India)
AST SpaceMobile
AST SpaceMobile is building the first and only global cellular broadband network in space to operate directly with standard, unmodified mobile devices based on our extensive IP and patent portfolio and designed for both commercial and government applications. Our engineers and space scientists are on a mission to eliminate the connectivity gaps faced by today’s five billion mobile subscribers and finally bring broadband to the billions who remain unconnected.
Position Overview
The RAN Deployment Engineer (India) is responsible for executing all deployment, installation, and integration activities required to enable stable satellite‑to‑mobile connectivity across India and within global delivery programs. This role supports gateway and cell‑site builds, performs beam surveys, validates field installations, uploads configurations, and conducts probe‑based integration checks to ensure RAN readiness for satellite network activation.
The position works closely with regional engineering teams, the NOC, vendors, and global deployment groups to resolve technical blockers, uphold high integration quality, and support seamless service enablement.
Operating at the intersection of field engineering and advanced satellite‑RAN deployment, this role demands precision during installation, disciplined validation practices, and continuous coordination with cross‑functional teams. The RAN Deployment Engineer must balance technical accuracy, operational urgency, and regulatory variations across India to ensure smooth and consistent readiness for global satellite network activation.
Key Responsibilities
RAN Deployment, Installation & Integration
- Execute end‑to‑end deployment tasks including gateway build support, cell‑site build activities, and RAN hardware installation.
- Perform integration steps for satellite‑RAN connectivity, including configuration uploads, node integration, and radio parameter validation.
- Conduct installation quality checks, site audits, and cross‑domain readiness verification.
Beam Surveys, Probe Validations & Acceptance Execution
- Perform beam surveys and coverage validation activities using probe tools and field equipment.
- Execute acceptance test tasks aligned with the standard deployment and acceptance frameworks.
- Validate persistence, attach success, mobility consistency, and overall satellite‑RAN service readiness.
Cross‑Functional Coordination & Issue Resolution
- Coordinate with regional engineering, NOC teams, global deployment, RF, and field vendors to execute deployment activities.
- Identify technical blockers during deployment and escalate or resolve them through structured workflows.
- Support troubleshooting across RF, gateway, core, and OSS integrations during deployment phases.
Quality Assurance, Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain installation logs, configuration records, acceptance outputs, and deployment documentation.
- Deliver consistent field reports, quality checklists, and on‑site validation summaries for each deployment milestone.
- Ensure all deployments meet quality benchmarks, standards, and defined acceptance criteria.
Operational Readiness & Handover Enablement
- Validate end‑to‑end readiness before handover to operations and NOC teams.
- Provide field insights, acceptance results, and operational context for smooth transition to steady‑state monitoring.
- Support readiness reviews for India‑based and global deployment projects.
Deliverables
- Beam survey results, installation validation reports, and probe‑based test outputs.
- Site integration checklists, parameter upload logs, and acceptance test documentation.
- Deployment status updates, issue logs, and resolution summaries.
- Readiness handover packages for NOC and operations teams.
- Consistent deployment artifacts supporting India and global satellite‑RAN activation.

- Technical certifications in RAN, RF, or telecom deployment are a plus.
Experience
- 3–6 years of experience in RAN deployment, field engineering, telecom installation, or wireless integration roles.
- Experience with RAN field testing, site integration, parameter upload, or RF validation tasks.
- Prior experience with satellite‑RAN, NTN, or hybrid network deployments is preferred but not mandatory.
Required Technical Expertise
- Strong understanding of 4G/5G RAN architecture, node integration, and configuration workflows.
- Hands‑on experience with field tools for beam surveys, coverage probes, or radio validation (TEMS, Nemo, Accuver, Keysight, R&S).
- Knowledge of CIQ structures, parameter uploads, and acceptance frameworks.
- Familiarity with telecom site installation, cabling, power systems, and equipment commissioning.
- Ability to interpret logs, traces, KPIs, and RAN measurement outputs.
Professional Skills
- Strong execution focus with ability to perform field tasks independently and reliably.
- Excellent communication and coordination with technical teams, vendors, and regional stakeholders.
- Detail‑oriented, disciplined with documentation, and comfortable operating in fast‑paced deployment environments.
- Strong troubleshooting mindset with ability to resolve field issues effectively.
- Adaptable, proactive, and able to manage multiple deployment tasks concurrently.
Technology Proficiency
