Position Overview

We are seeking a Battery Pack Modeling & Degradation Analysis Intern to support our R&D team as part of the 2026 Summer Internship Program. This role focuses on analytical modeling and validation of battery pack behavior using existing cell‑level models and will be validated through pack‑level tests. The intern will help extend cell models to pack‑level representations, conduct and analyze test data, and document methodologies to support future development efforts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Extend cell‑level battery performance models to full battery pack representations.
  • Apply existing cell degradation models to pack‑level configurations.
  • Identify and document assumptions required when scaling degradation behavior from cell to pack.
  • Conduct and analyze battery pack test data to validate model predictions.
  • Quantify discrepancies between modeled and measured pack‑level behavior.
  • Recommend additional parameters or enhanced modeling approaches needed for pack‑level accuracy.
  • Support the conversion of MATLAB/Simulink models to Python as needed.
  • Document modeling methodology, assumptions, limitations, and results for internal use.

Qualifications

Education:

Enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s program in Engineering or Applied Science.

Experience:

A minimum of 0–1 years of relevant project or academic experience; prior experience with analytical modeling or battery systems is beneficial.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Field of Study: Electrical Engineering.
  • Senior undergraduate or graduate student.
  • Familiarity with lithium‑ion battery models or electrochemical systems.
  • Experience analyzing experimental or test-based data.

Soft Skills:

  • Strong analytical and quantitative problem‑solving skills.
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively within cross‑functional teams.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Meticulous attention to detail to ensure accuracy in documentation, modeling, and data interpretations.

Technology Stack:

  • MATLAB/Simulink
  • Python
