Position Overview
AST SpaceMobile and our global partners are building the first and only space-based cellular broadband network designed to connect standard mobile phones at 4G/5G speeds — on land, at sea, and in flight.

The Production Supervisor will oversee the mechanical and electrical assembly of complex satellite systems for AST SpaceMobile’s growing LEO constellation. This role is responsible for supervising production operations, ensuring quality and throughput, supporting continuous improvement, and developing a high-performing assembly workforce.

You will be working shift 2 which is 5:30 pm to 4 am Monday through Thursday (4x10 schedule).

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise satellite mechanical and electrical assembly operations, ensuring adherence to work instructions, engineering specifications, and quality standards.
  • Oversee and coordinate personnel across assigned shifts to ensure products are built on time, within cost targets, and meeting all quality expectations.
  • Maintain 6S standards, general housekeeping, and overall operational effectiveness for assigned production areas.
  • Support employee training, process auditing, and skills development to meet departmental objectives and certification requirements.
  • Motivate, coach, and engage employees to drive performance, accountability, and teamwork.
  • Partner with other supervisors, managers, and operations leadership to resolve production bottlenecks and personnel performance issues.
  • Support and guide the team in achieving key operational metrics and departmental goals, including safety, quality, delivery, and efficiency.
  • Work closely with engineering, quality, supply chain, and other cross-functional teams to ensure smooth build operations and timely issue resolution.

Qualifications

Education

  • High school diploma required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, manufacturing, scientific, or related technical field preferred.

Experience

  • 5 or more years of experience supervising production teams of at least 10 direct employees.
  • Experience supervising manufacturing or assembly operations preferred.

Soft Skills

  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Ability to motivate, develop, and build trust within a diverse production team.
  • Demonstrated leadership behaviors and decision-making abilities.
    Commitment to fostering a safe, compliant, high-performance work environment.

Technology Stack

  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing documentation systems, work instructions, MES, or ERP platforms is beneficial.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles.
  • Experience supervising aerospace, electronics, or precision manufacturing operations.
  • Understanding of satellite, avionics, or mechanical/electrical assembly processes.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with regular walking, standing, reaching, and lifting up to 40 lbs.
  • Comfort working around mechanical assembly stations, tooling, and production equipment.
