WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Develop structural loads and environments for a diverse range of company products to ensure structural integrity for handling, transportation, and operational events
- Use first principles as a basis for every decision and discern the appropriate level of analysis to apply. Execute hand calculations, spreadsheet, and numerical first-order models to inform path forward before jumping into detailed analysis
- Generate and maintain numerical models and integrated dynamics FEMs for use in loads derivation and other analyses
- Collaborate with hardware engineers and guide design decisions based on analysis results
- Prepare detailed technical reports and present findings to internal teams, management, and external customers
- Ensure compliance with internal and external customer requirements, regulations, and safety standards throughout the design and analysis process
- Develop and perform dynamics testing, including vibration testing, modal testing, GVT, etc.
- Define instrumentation and perform data processing for loads data acquisition
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- BS or higher degree in engineering or applied physics with a focus in structures
- Deep understanding of statics and structural dynamics
- Dynamic testing experience (system identification, sine, random, shock, acoustic, flight) including sensor selection, data acquisition, and data post-processing
- Proficiency in FEA software (ANSYS, Abaqus, NASTRAN) and solution sequences for static, modal, frequency response, transient response, and random response
- Proficiency in Matlab or Python (or equivalent) for developing analytical models, data acquisition, and automation
- Highly motivated, self-starting, and able to perform duties autonomously without supervision
- Very organized and willing to establish scope and requirements for ill-defined problems
- Passion for defending the United States and her allies
- Be able to obtain and hold a U.S. Top Secret security clearance
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 2+ years of experience in a structures, dynamics, or loads related role with high ownership and accountability for hardware outcomes
- Rotorcraft and Turbomachinery experience
- Ability to develop workflow automation tools
- Experience with response or force limiting vibration testing
The salary range for this role is an estimate based on a wide range of compensation factors, inclusive of base salary only. Actual salary offer may vary based on (but not limited to) work experience, education and/or training, critical skills, and/or business considerations.
