Job Description
Summary
The Manager, Program Management, manages individuals who lead cross-functional teams that are focused on the delivery of a product or computer-based system from design to release for customers. In this role, one will oversee scheduling, pricing, and technical performance of organizational programs. Aid with proposal development, contract negotiation and contract compliance. Proposal preparation may include assisting with plans, specifications and financial terms of the contract. Assists with business development initiatives. Ensures master plans and schedules are followed, developing solutions to program challenges, and directing others for successful completion of project on time and on budget.
Position Responsibilities
- Develops, defines and executes project plans, schedules, budgets and deliverables
- Lead in the development of program planning and estimating for a complex Programs
- Manages all aspects of planning multiple Program plans
- Identifies needed resources for projects, defines and assigns major project roles
- Monitors the product/program/project from initiation through delivery, interfacing with external customers or field-based employees on technical matters, as needed
- Assigns and monitors work of project/program management staff, providing technical support and direction
- Consult or negotiate with clients to prepare project specifications
- Prepare budgets, bids, or contracts
- Assess project feasibility by analyzing technology, resource needs, or market demand
- Direct recruitment, placement, and evaluation of architecture or engineering project staff
- Review, recommend, or approve contracts or cost estimates
- Develop or implement policies, standards, or procedures for engineering and technical work
- Works on issues of diverse scope where analysis of situation or data requires evaluation of a variety of factors, including an understanding of business trends
- Other duties as assigned
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills & Experience)
- Bachelor's Degree in a related field of study is required or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
- Minimum of 8 - 12 years of related experience in Program Management
- At least 2+ years in a supervisory/leadership role
- Extensive computing skills in Excel, PowerPoint and related systems for gathering/management of Service Performance measurements
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively at both the operational and strategic level
- Engineering & Technology - Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology, which includes applying principles, techniques, procedures and equipment to the design and production of various goods and services
- Design — Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models
- Mathematics — Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics, and their applications
- Administration and Management — Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources
- Occasionally may be required to travel within the Continental U.S.
Other Qualifications & Desired Competencies
- Advanced degree is preferred
- PMP certification is preferred
- Stellar communication, time management and organizational skills
- Extensive analytical, critical thinking and judgment skills
- Ability to drive innovation and continuous improvements to evolve with changing needs
- Ability to thoroughly research issues and develop solutions to complex problems

Clearance Level
The salary range for this role is:
$107,370 - $152,250AeroVironment considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the location, the role and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, education/training, and key skills.
ITAR Requirement:
This position requires access to information that is subject to compliance with the International Traffic Arms Regulations (“ITAR”) and/or the Export Administration Regulations (“EAR”). In order to comply with the requirements of the ITAR and/or the EAR, applicants must qualify as a U.S. person under the ITAR and the EAR, or a person to be approved for an export license by the governing agency whose technology comes under its jurisdiction.
