Job Description
Summary:
The Standards Operator is the key liaison between multiple departments in support of Jump 20 operations, to include R&D, Training, Publications and OPS. The Standards Operator is the cohesive element that pulls these departments together and ensures efficiency in knowledge sharing. The Standards Operator will also enforce the standards established through this process and adapt those standards as new information and capabilities get brought on board.
Position Responsibilities:
- Exhibits advanced wide-ranging experience, using in-depth professional knowledge, acumen, concepts, and company objectives to develop, resolve complex models and procedures. Provides solutions to issues in creative and effective ways. Understands the interrelationships of different disciplines. Directs the application of existing principles and guides development of new policies and ideas.
- Understands and works on complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors. Determines methods and procedures on new assignments. Exercises judgment in selecting methods, evaluating, adapting of complex techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results. Work is reviewed upon completion and is consistent with departmental objectives.
- Responsible for ensuring operational compliance with standards, publications, and directives.
- Audits training and operational entities as an impartial entity and advises Chief Standards Operator.
- Will shape and write policy for Field Service Operations.
- Liaises with R&D on new project development and integration into current Field Service Operations.
- Performs evaluations of Instructors to ensure operational and instructional excellence.
- Conducts training and qualification evolutions as required for Air Vehicle Operators and Mechanics.
- Conducts Pre-Deployment Site Surveys and sets up newly awarded sites per established standards.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills & Experience):
- Bachelor’s degree required (discipline/preferred discipline/related field) etc. or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- 8+ years of related experience
- U.S. Person required, per ITAR definition, and contract requirements.
- Ability to acquire and maintain a U.S. Passport
- Demonstrated software application technical proficiency
- Ability to travel in the US and abroad 25% – 50% annually
- Ability to obtain a JUMP 20 Air Vehicle Operator and Mech qualification (prior or comparable experience on Group 3 UAS platform preferred)
- Ability to obtain a JUMP 20 Instructor Operator/Maintainer qualification (prior or comparable experience on Group 3 UAS platform preferred)
- Able to pass background investigation
- Ability to speak, read, and write English

- 2+ years of leadership experience preferred
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to apply instructional techniques
- Demonstrated troubleshooting ability and technical acumen
- Strong work ethic, with excellent organizational skills
- Strong team player with interpersonal skills to work effectively with all levels of personnel
- Demonstrated interest in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
Physical Requirements:
- Lift and/or move between 20-30 lbs. of cases of varying size (Occasional)
- Lift up to 50 pounds as well as objects of varying sizes for shipment to & set up at various training sites (Occasional)
- Able to work outdoors in extreme weather conditions and traverse across uneven ground and varying terrain (Frequent)
- Stand and/or sit for long periods of time (Constant)
- Balancing, handling, fine manipulation and grasping (Frequent)
- Good manual dexterity to assemble and disassemble product (Frequent)
- Crouching, reaching and keying (Frequent)
- Climbing, stooping, kneeling, feeling, overhead lifting (Occasional)
Special Requirements:
- Active SECRET or TS Clearance level clearance.
- Employment is contingent upon meeting all medical requirements
The salary range for this role is:
$88,000 - $124,740AeroVironment considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the location, the role and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, education/training, and key skills.

This position requires access to information that is subject to compliance with the International Traffic Arms Regulations (“ITAR”) and/or the Export Administration Regulations (“EAR”).
