Job Purpose:

You will play in a huge role in turning our finance department around. We are a new team
with a new system and we need your help to build our finance operation. You will ensure that we deliver numbers on time every month and with the highest accuracy.

You will play a key part in ensuring that we get a clean external audit opinion and pass our internal audit with flying colours. You will get involved in projects that will help us automate our key processes covering the purchase to pay process, fixed asset process, inventory process and financial reporting process.

The role will be instrumental in ensuring that AALTO has a framework that is fit for purpose, scalable and simple enough to facilitate the agility required by a start-up, providing assurance to all stakeholders including shareholders, investors, and auditors.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Month-End Process Execution:
o Prepare/process general ledger journals for all areas of the financials including payroll, accruals, prepayments.
o Fix transactional postings to ensure transactions are assigned to the correct cost centre, account code, project and department.
o Analyse the P&L and balance sheet and make adjustments as necessary to ensure our financials are correct.
2. Balance Sheet Reconciliation:
o Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations and ensure our balance sheet is audit proof.
3. Process Improvement Projects:
o Support the Controller on projects to enhance key finance processes, including purchase to pay, financial reporting, inventory and fixed assets.
o Support the Controller to configure Microsoft D365 in order to automate processes and improve key controls.
4. Financial Reporting:
o Build financial reports using Microsoft D365.
5. Financial Controls Implementation:
o Identify and support on the implementation of robust financial controls. We need to have controls in place to pass our annual Internal Audit review.
6. Statutory Accounts Work:
o Prepare clear TB to stats reconciliation for the FY23 audit
o Own the financial statement preparation and ensure our financial statements are audited and filed within 4 months of the financial year end
o Advise on posting stat adjustments in the ERP system.
7. Co-ordinate the External Audit:
o Be the main point of contact for the external audit and ensure that the audit is delivered on time and on budget
8. Transactional Support
o To keep the operation going you may be required to cover some AP transactional processing if our AP Specialist is on annual leave.

Qualifications/experience:

• Qualified accountant with previous post qualified experience in different sized
  organisations, from large best-practice, to small start-up environments.
• Proven experience in month-end processes and financial reporting. Must be able to deliver monthly numbers by EOD WD3.
• A background in audit or an audit mindset is preferred.
• Must have experience preparing TB to stats reconciliations and be technically
  proficient.
